Maximum Map Size?

There's a 65 Civ mod that Al Costa is working on, but again, you'll be able to choose which 18 Civs from the 65 you want to go up against.

Why? Each default leader has a unique personality sub-routine written for it, which leaves only 26 different AI responses. Any more than that and you're just playing against the same characters over and over again. Unless you can write new personalities, which can't be done until the SDK comes out, I don't see the point in adding so many civs.

Interesting....I can play Huge maps just fine with slowdown only very late in the game, when every single free tile has been used.

I started to play this map (180x87) and it was a little slow even in the begining of the game. I only got to 1000AD and it took 15 to 20 seconds for the AI to take its turn. This is the largest I have played so far.

I am using this map editor to create a hand built map 181x87 in size but am finding that a hair too small. I will have to pump it up and see how large of a map my comp can handle....

My spec are as follows:

AMD64 3700+ (San Diego, 1MB chache)
2 gigs of PC3200 RAM
nVidia 7800 GTX (256 MB version)
7200 RPM SATAII HDD

too bad you can change a lot of the LH personalities within the XML rather easily, and not only that, but you can even create new traits, to give even more options.
