Media Played From External USB HDD

I have quite the mp3 collection and I have it stored on my external usb hard drive, and I play my music from the hard drive. I was wondering if this puts too much strain on the drive, does it wear out faster?

Yes, using your computer parts makes them wear out faster.

Of course its wearing it out faster, but no more than it would if you were using your internal HDD. Your drive is more likely to die before it gets worn out by your music playing.
