Medieval Armies

yeah, check the Palace, and the AI uses the armies
So do I.

I have set them to longest possible production interval (100 turns)

The KI also regulary builds the Military Academy and then Armies on their own, if you remove the "needs an army" checkbox of the MA. ;)

And I think, that I will also try your armies, they look much better than the strange man, who "howhowhow" through enemy lands.

I was surprised that the AI understood to transport armies by ship, land them, then fill the armies with units...

I wasn't expecting the AI to get that ...

Ireland has 3 nations armies landed. (See Image)

However this is no worry, I shall be victorious, the English flag shall fly over all of the island!

Long live the king!

Thank you for the raven banner, but it's a strange color - is the mangenta supposed to be transparent?

But aside from that, THANK YOU for your work.

Woo, didn't realize you had at least 31 flags here! Last time I checked, there wasn't enough for my mod! Outstanding!

These army units are awesome Ronning, as is your terrain. Keep it coming!

In a similar vein, I use a small wonder called "The Crusades" that allows the AI to build armies, with no requirements (except an early tech). They build the wonder, and they build armies. It may help that The Crusades also gives +1 gold per tile worked, but every civ builds it pretty early on (usually I am the last of the European civs to build it, I get to it towards end of Ancient Age). It also allows the building of "Chivalric Orders," which produces crusaders, don't know if that increases The Crusades popularity or not.

Its been a while since I've seen an AI army, but on establishing embassies I see them being built. I think the Civs sometimes switch to wonders. And when wars start, I think they may switch to regular units. Also, I haven't played that far into the last few games as I keep making mod adjustments.

You also could make the Army one of the starting units. I think Lord of the Mods does that.

You're only doing 30? Why not 31?

This... this changes everything! Everything!

I havnt decided who the 31 civ should be...

I think with the palace checked , armies are so widely used so early that it does change the strategy of the game. You're right. Defense now has to be given more priority. And the stack attack is more easily defended against. That was originally the purpose of bringing the pressence of the armies to the game. That annoying stack that runs wild will find itself now not so terrorizing .

Your invading stack at a movement of 1 space , or 2 if cavalry will only find it's Stalingrad as my armies far out maneuver and can seemingly be everwhere...

My only complaint speaking strictly about the combat of the game, is that it always seemed that force in numbers always dominated. Giving movement more of a chance to counter that, a smaller civ can be a dominant militart force.

South Africa, Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, Siam, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Norway, Denmark, Belgium... all civs I play with. :)

Some more might be Finland (sometimes use it), Israel (occasionally use it), Luxembourg, Medici, North Korea... .

Fantastic units thank you very much, you have done a great job.
Do you plan to make more medieval units? If one day you decide to do more, I would love to see the medieval flags of Bohemia, Ireland, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Serbia to be included in my MEM Mod
