Mercantilism Overpowered

The game says "-25% Maintenance Costs from Corporations". Why do you say it is only for domestic corporations ? Any proofs ?

I think he is trying to differentiate corporations that you want to keep in just your cities for the benefit versus ones that you want to spread to other civs (making them pay upkeep costs) while you benefit in the home city.

I'm wondering if the comments on this thread take offensive use of corporations into account? I'm currently trying to economically sabotage a couple of civs on another continent by aggressively spreading Creative Construction amongst them. I don't care about the culture, and the production boost is fairly limited compared to my domestic Mining Inc.

If the AI actually used Corporations in this way, I would actually consider using Mercantilism for defense, but I hardly ever get takeovers from the AI.

That is actually what I was trying to do when the AI switched back to Mercantilism.

The AI DOES do it. Not just about always, but I've seen it do it more than once. I witnessed the AI open branch offices in foreign cities before even doing it in its own.

There is no need for such differentiation. If you make others pay (read: you open corp. offices in foreign cities) you don't care of the Free Market bonus and you might as well be running Environmentalism for what you care.
