MGE Succession Game

well..I'm starting to wonder about that.

If we get no word from Dread by Wednesday,we'll move on down the list.

Vlad's save sent to Sun Tzu.Hopefully.we'll get er moving again.

Reign of Counsol SunTzu The Great

150BC-220AD

Two new cities were established; The Cape of SunTzu and SunTzu's Palace.
The wonders of Marco Polo's embassy and the Great Libary we're completed after hundreds of years of work and SunTzu The Great is now etched in the scrolls of the history of the English civilization.
In the year of our lord 140AD, a worldwide depression struck England and nationwide riots occurred and we're finally struck down by the Phalanx's of the Royal Army.
The Agricultural Association Act was passed by the senate and provided 5 settlers to irrigation and road making duty.
SunTzu The Great died however in the year of 220AD after his 370th birthday.

Well, it must be close to the Armageddon. Lord, you know that I won’t fly by that lesson you taught me, to pull out my Wesson you brought me, and i’m not stressin’ it softly. Get ‘em up off me, ‘cause all we wanted harmony, been bombin’ ‘em. Yell up outta my ghetto, “I won’t settle,” get on my level.

Deep in the forests of Nottingham lived a lone archer. His name was Pedro R. Hood. Loved among both humans and animals he dedicated his life to creating a better world for the poor. He met Suntzu the Great for the first time in 210 AD, when he rescued his beautiful grandgranddaughter, Mah Ri Yan. To reward the ranger for his incredible courage, SuntZu let him be his personal advisor. Ten years later, SuntZu died at the incredible age of 350. The senate of England decided there was no better candidate to succeed SuntZu than Pedro R. Hood. Thus began the reign of consul Pedro R. Hood, supported by his beautiful wife, Mah Ri Yan.

240 AD, Dear Diary
My faithful men are not merry at all in the colonies of PinkyGen and Liverpool. The construction of a magnificent temple has nearly been finished in PinkyGen, but the people in Liverpool don’t have acces to such a facility yet.
I’ll let the men in the fields rest. I have found some good entertainers in Liverpool who’ll maintain hapiness in Liverpool for now
smile.gif
I sent them to a good barber though, they looked horrible!
I instructed the city of Leeds to assign some of its workers to assemble the necessary equipment to found a new colony in the vicinity. A great site has been located westwards.
As a present for my wife’s birthday we decorated the throne room with a bear’s fur. She loved it and showed me her gratitude that night…

260 AD, My dear diary
My people are all happy again. The settlers of Leeds will travel westwards to found the new colony. The entertainers from Liverpool are bound to fail to do their job, so I decided to hurry the construction of a temple. Hopefully the citizens will have courage when the barbarians arive that were spotted on the southern part of the island…

280 AD, Dear diary
Settler’s continued enhancing PinkyGen and Cimfindriel, our scientists aquired something called pottery by reading some foreign literary works in our Great Library. I already heard about this phenomena before. It is said that the germans used it to construct their Hanging Gardens in Leipzig.

300 AD, Dearest diary
The Hanging Gardens of Leipzig made me realize that we should contact those Germans. If they have a structure of such magnificence that it enhances the mood of their people, they should be civilized and good people. I was right! They were willing to trade knowledge with me. We learned to use mathematics to enhance our military force and they had a better understanding of sea and methods of exploring land, which they explained to us. We also ended up talking with the Mongols. Despite theire strange name, they appeared to be quite civilized too, trading scientific thoughts on iron working and warrior code with us. Both civilization agreed to sign a peace treaty.
Leeds is using stored food to feed their people. I hope that temple is finished soon, so the people will start working instead of rioting.

320 AD, Oh dear diary
I was delighted to open the new market in London. People seemed to like it very much, so overal hapiness increased. I ordered the construction of a new library, as London scientists are complaining about the bad facilities in the city.

340 AD, My dear diary
We tried to contact the Egyptian people. Never have I talked to such an ignorant person. He seemed rather preoccupied, because he showed little interest in me and my knowledge. He rejected our peace treaty offer, claiming to be afraid to become a slave of our decadent empire. What’s this man talking about? The persians showed more interest and did sign the peace treaty. They told us that they were working on a great project named ‘Copernicus’ Observatory’ It would speed up their research. I should keep this in mind…

360 AD, Dear diary,
We discovered astronomy through the great library. Now I know what the persians were talking about! We could construct a new structure that would grant us the wisdom of the stars! Maybe in a few years one of our cities can build the structure..

380 AD
York completed a new marketplace, I decided <considering the number of scientists in the vicinity of the city> to start construction of the great observatory there. The settlers from Leeds have finally reached their destination and will erect a new city. I will name it after my loving wife, Mah Ri Yan. She loves the site I have chosen for the city, as fishermen have lots of oportunities to fish. In the evening we sometimes sit at the shores of her city, watching the sun set…

400 AD
These are dark times for our kingdom. I don’t know why, but the people of Reading and Stonehenge have started to riot. I had to made difficult decisions and made sure hapiness was maintained, but as food is scarce these days, I hope they will realize the stupidity of their resistance soon.

420 AD
My wife is not well. I don’t know what causes her illness, maybe it’s her age. My best doctors are trying to cure this strange disease.
The rebelling people of Reading have been sent out in the field, to enhance the city’s surroundings, in this way they cause the least harm.

440 AD
People from Hastings helped constructing the observatory in York. My wife is still not in good health, why must this misery come upon the one that’s most loved by me?

460 AD
The persians constructed the observatory. They have already read the stars and took all their wisdom away. I think it’s better to built something else in York now. I’m not sure yet what that might be?

480 AD
Nothing of importance, really

500 AD
The Celts have shown their true face. They charged an unacceptable sum of money. We politely denied, after which they declared war.

520 AD
As we discovered the techniques of engineering after years of research, I immediately ordered my wise men to research for a medicine for my wife. There has to be something that can help her? The people of York are still constructing something. We still don’t know what, but people are whispering about a great crusade..

540 AD
Today my wife has died… This is the saddest day of my life. I can’t continue my efforts to guide the english people in these times of ongoing darkness… I decided to retire and hand over the incredible task of governing this empire. I’ll live in Mah Ri Yan, until I die, to remember the wonderful days we spend in this peaceful town…

What's Fry's E-mail? I'll send this game to Smash, if this remains unclear

Fry is missing so I guess I'm next.Hellraiser was going to play but has classic only.
That suits me fine.I'm dying to read some of the accounts of the other game which I will do as soon as I finish my next reign
smile.gif

Do you have multiplayer gold edition?

I allready played my 2nd reign and it was quite eventful.I tossed out the senate and switched back to Monarchy. Then I turned every citizen possible into scientists and went for Monotheism.Bulit Mich's Chapel and switched back to Republic.I'll leave it to the successor whether to celebrate "we love" now or later.
Kept having to re-negotiate with the ais as they keep going to "contact" every turn. They are typically getting quite hostile and unreasonable in their demands.Got some maps and techs though.

PinkyGen was lost to the treacherous Celts.Longshanks was on it though and bought it back for 142 gold.A very good investment as we got Navigation,2 phalanx,1 chariot,1 horse,1 caravel and 157 gold back

A decision will need to be made on whether or not to make an all out effort for Magellan's or Leo's.Or both.Others have started Magellans(so have we).Invention is coming to us first. It will be possible to get both but difficult.Shake's is also available but being built.
-----------------------------
I've taken a few libertys with history

The year of our Lord 540 was crossroads in the building of an Empire. For it was in this year that Edward the Longshanks returned after a lengthy crusade against barbarians and the squashing of a revolt in the Highlands led by the renegade William Wallace. His anger echoed throughtout the palace. He demanded an explanation about the setting up of the Royal Senate.

“Am I not the one chosen by God to lead?As was my father. And his father before that”

The senators were summoned for a meeting in York. Those foolish enough to attend were put to the sword in typical Longshanks fashion. He had done it before with Scottish nobles,so it came as no surprise to many.Any remaining senators have fled for lands unknown.
A return to 1 seat of power is imminent.Although, upon the advice of the Archbishop of London, the change is not to occur until an oedo cycle is complete.Only the Church and Edward himself know the meaning of this, but none amongst us dare question the proclamation.
The crown was restored to Edward in 620.The Parlimentarians were finished.Due to some careful planning the transition was smooth and the citizens were seemly pleased by the return to a ruling throne.
Many scholars were conscripted and discoveries went from 17 moons to 5!This was greatly heralded as our neighbors were becoming increasingly beligerent and Longshanks vowed to see their nations in ruins. But new weapons and tactics would be needed. And quickly.Allready a Celtic catapult division was blackmailing the citizens of PinkyGen and there was currently no way to break the seige.Only a show of force would appease the people and deter the Celts.

Admiral Watson also failed to survive the purging.Longshanks reasoned since we had no navy,we had no need for an Admiral.
“It is no wonder these foreign infidels are landing on our soil demanding their Danegeld. We must have ships to meet these foe before they can establish beachheads. That was your responsibilty Mr. Admiral”
A single swipe of his sword left Edward glaring at the Admiral’s head, which had been removed from his body.

”We have the grace of God.Let us enforce his word.Let this era be known as Pax Englisha!”

After some skillful negotiations, maps were shared with the Germanic and Egyptian peoples under the guise of trade, but most believe invasion was the true intent.Only the future knows for certain.
who’s the wisenheimer that changed an Egyptian city to Tori Amos?

The knowledge of University and Bridge Building was gained in one of these negotiations with Egypt. It seems Edward and Cleopatra get on well together. He is the envy of all men as the Egyptian Queen is quite striking although her beauty is said to mask the heart of a hyena. This heart was revealed when she declared war after an eventful trist between the two.A woman scorned...Persia soon followed her lead vowing to destroy our kingdom after extortion was refused.

Cambridge was founded near York to take advantage of unused whaling grounds. Why this action had not occured eons ago was a mystery.Gloucester was founded for the same reason as Cambridge.Manchester and Bristol followed soon.

Medicine was discovered. Many scholars wanted to persue a great workshop but the church exerted it’s power insisting that only 1 God must be worshiped. The church won out and Monotheism was given next priority.

PinkyGen was taken by the evil Celts.A diplomat was comishioned and all scientists were replaced by tax collectors.Longshanks managed a peace treaty but it was a ruse.It was bought back for 142 gold pieces. This turned out to be good as it brought the empire Navigation,1 settler,2 phalanx,1 chariot,1 horse , 1 caravel and the 142 gold plus 15

new lands were discovered off Tea Time.An expedition was organized but encountered a hostile Persian elephant.Longshanks is getting increasingly infuriated.

Reforestation near Cimfindriel resulted in a wonderful silk forest.

The period 920-940 was eventful for the empire.Edward announced plans for yet another crusade. He departed immediately after the artisan Michelangelo finished work on the Holy Chapel.
Parlimentarians seized the opportunity and once again forced a change in government power. They decentralized and re-instuted the Senate.Apparently, few believe Edward will return from his latest crusade.

The church found itself in a precarious position during this period but managed to maintain some power by agreeing to research and construct a Great Workshop.Work began in York and craftsmen from the countryside were summoned there immediately.Caravans of supplies began to arrive. But it was not without discord.Several prominent citizens argued an increased mastery of the seas would be of more benefit to the empire.

I am so glad to see the MGE team is up and running again. Looks like you guys got a better jump than we did, and you'll likely do better score-wise. Although we are having a blast by not dominating as well. I love all of the narration that we get to read - great stuff!

So you have a city called Tori Amos do you? We had an Egyptian city named Fiona Apple - now it's an English city named Fiona Apple. Come to think of it, someone should change that. For some reason I thought this had to do with CedricGreene where in his game he programmed the Egyptians as the "musicians". Given that he was originally slated for both versions, he seems the likely culprit.

Hey Smash - if your done with your second reign, does that mean that we have already completed the first ten players????
That would mean that I'm next!!!
So you just send that game along and I'll play my 15 turns right away!!

In fact,we lost a city. But that turned out to be pretty good for us as it was bribed back for a nice profit of tech, units and a liitle gold to boot.

A vast storm erupts amongst the capital city of London. Thunder and lightining fill the air, forcing the session of Parliament to adjourn for the week. The storm centers around the pyramids, which burst into a brilliant flame.
A voice emenates from the Pyramids:

"Hear me, my citizens, for it is your beloved king, PinkyGen, addressing you.
king.gif

I sense a deep disturbance in the world. The unclean Celts have occupied my holy city! This is an outrage. I hereby place a curse upon the cities defenders, may it last till the tenth generation of their cursed descendents

.

Glory to the faimed diplomat whose smooth mouth and smoother pockets reclaimed my illustrious city, added to our mighty armies, knowledge, and treasury. He shall have a place by my side in the afterlife, and shall find the joys of my royal harem.

That is all for now. I shall sleep till England needs me once more."

Slowly the storm lifts, and the blue sky's return, for now.

Of all the city names on that list, it picks those two. Ah well, it'd be just as annoying as say Alice in Chains or Aerosmith.

that would explain it allrighty as your city.txt is used when you play.

If I see a Bjork next turn......

OK, now before I start playing I have a few questions that I would like to get some answers to first!!!

1: Why do we have so many military unites?????????????????

2: Why do we have so many obsolete military unites?????????????

3: Why are nearly all our cities building military unites??????????????????

I can see that we are at war with the Persians and I think that I'll play some with the Egyptians to. But I'll not use more that a few military unites and a lot of diplomats!!!

1.our military was/is in rough shape. We had no diplomats,no offensive units and no gold.Cheap units were rushed for martial law after the switch to Monarchy.
2.Leos will take care of that
smile.gif

3.because we don't need infastructure yet.We had cities producing 3 beakers building libraries. For my "style" we had entered development phase prematurely. We need to rush caravans to try and get Magellan's and Leo's.

There will be no super science city. This MGE.There will be global conflict.I wanted to be the cause of it rather than the receptor
wink.gif

Well here comes a brief note on how my reign went:

We have discovered land, both to the east and the west and also some to the north. The island to the east is very small, the two others have yet to be explored.

We managed to build Magellans expedition, but the Germans got the Theater.

I Have waged a VERY successful (bribing) war against the Persians and Egyptians since they have now allied against us.

I have build a few new cities but mostly it's been Caravan and infrastructure that I have been thinking of.

I have not discovered anything new, but gotten a few new techs, by conquest and trade - I have had the tax rate on 80% almost the entire time, to pay for my wars.

All in all I think that we are doing pretty well, even is we are some what slower than the Classic team.
