Mic3 - Wonder Expansion

Looks like some fun turns. Good job on getting us coal! It would have been better if we could have got a leader.

Since we now have another source of iron, I feel like renewing the iron with America and get more money out of it. America has iron next to one of its cities captured from Aztecs and it will not be very far from expansion I guess.

I'll take a closer look at the game.

More comments.

India is at war with China, which is quite backwards (and no horses/saltpeter). I suggest we move some cossack to block the Indian units at Hangchow (sign RoP with China).

Also, one way to get Nationalism is to gift Germany into Industrial Ages and hope it gets Nationalism as free tech, then we can trade for it.

We need more workers! What did I say about popping up a worker when city hits full food bin at size 12? We apparently weren't doing that, and now we have pollution at our capital!

AI is only two techs away from Sci Meth. We need to rush factory and coal plant.

Our military is quite enough now. By looking at what India has in our territory, it certainly isn't very impressive.

After Industrialization we should go as slow as possible on Electricity, unless someone researches it. We want to complete US before anyone gets Sci Method.

Well, without saltpeter there is only so much you can do! But India has a LOT of units, which does scare me...

The reason for not building workers was to pump out more military, as I really didn't know what kind of backlash I would get from Otto, or even a suprise attack from India. I agree, its time to pump out the workers. I wouldn't bother with the pollution until the rest of the squares in Moscow are RRed though, we will get a lot more shields faster by RRing instead of cleaning.

I completely forgot about the Heroic Epic. Sorry, my wars are typically short precision strikes, and I rarely get any leaders till late in the game. With some more artillery, we can go and beat on Otto or Iroquois until we have a leader.

Let's not go too slow on tech. We need to find rubber. In fact, I wouldn't be against the next player if he went and took Hangchow from china, just for the possibility of rubber, and slowing down India's war machine.

nice turns, and good news on the quick war. I also think we should avoid any more wars as our culture growth is halved while at war. Even if we expect to declare and sign peace in a few turns we run the risk of our enemy dragging others in against us and a few turns can blow out to 5 or 6 more. Coal was about the only reason I would have recommended a war. :)

our culture growth is halved while at war.

No, only mobolization does that. But I agree with no more wars.

I want a slow tech pace to delay any space race threat. That's pretty much the only way we could lose now.

Ok, got it, will propably play in the evening and read up also then, you guys post a lot in one night. :eek:

Ok... so, I'll block the Indians from getting Hangchow it possible, RR a lot and what else?

Playing in the evening.

1250AD [Preturn]: Check to see where we are going.

Looks good. Press enter.

IBT: Germany attacks India.

Lots of Indian troops cross our territory.

Moscow musket > court as a minor prebuild.

1255AD [1]: Able to lower scitax to 50%, Indu still in 1.

Borders at Vladivostok expanded, start the Iron works.

Mao will accept RoP for 2gpt. fine. Deal.

Cossacks start travelling through South India.

IBT: Interesting, I though Gandhi would just tell us to leave, but he now says it's either leave or war. Leave.

We learn Indu > Electricity @20%sci, due in 32.

1260AD [2]: Moscow starts US, due in 24.

Gandhi won't accept RoP for any reasonable price. I don't see the point in keeping China alive, though.

IBT: Buffalo musket > musket.
Yaroslavl' musket > worker.
Yakutsk court > temple.

1265AD [3]: Clean the pollution. SU now in 20 after RRing all around Moscow.

Oops, remember the factory thing. Switch to factory and rush it.

IBT: Indians march...

Moscow factory > coal plant.
St. Pete musket > worker.
Novgorod cossack > worker.
Buffalo worker > factory.
Yaroslavl' worker > factory.

1270AD [4]: RRing...

IBT: St. Pete worker > factory.
Novgorod worker > factory.

1275AD [5]: Rusch coal plant in Moscow.

IBT: Moscow coal plant > uni suffrage, now in 11.

We get a palace expansion! Yay!

1280AD [6] - 1295AD [9]: RR.

IBT: Mao suggests a MPP. No thanks. :lol:

1300AD [10]: Nothing really.

Notes:

I set up a path for the Indians to use, this way they won't wander all over our nation.

Save to next better player. :)

Good turns. I'd just switch Vladivostok to a court and rush it before starting the iron works (what ever it will help us out there...). We should also rush the university and a temple in Yekatarinburg - it has a small flip chance - and adjust garrisons, because what we really dont need is a city flipping from us.

Good job Ankka. We'll get US in 7 turns, and AI has not researched Electricity yet. We have at most 183 turns for culture win.

I suggest we gift Germany to Industrial Ages and see if we can trade for Nationalism. We can trade Industrialization for it too, and I suggest we do so if Germany doesn't get Nationalism for free tech. Then upgrade all our musketmen to riflemen.

Also, I see we have a fortress south to the horses. That's not necessary. We should have one on the hill next to our capital.

After factory I do not want more coal plants. Our production is OK and I want to avoid the pollution.

There is one thing that worries me a bit: India has 23088 culture now. We are 10545, not half yet. Hope America has that. At 1250AD India had 19997. So it's like 309cpt. It's like 249 turns for 100K, and it could be faster. We had 9281, so it's like 126cpt. We need to closely watch it.

So I think we need to build more culture. Quite some cities don't have temples yet. With this in mind, I also don't mind going for ToE and Hoover faster too. But then please slow down again.

In this game India is screwed resource-wise. It doesn't have coal.

Remember, to keep India from getting RR's, you MUST keep up the embargo vs Otto. In fact, you might want to start one vs the Aztecs, as they will have an extra source of coal as well(unless Iroquois took their city back.)

Count on culture buildings remaining:
Universal Sufferage
Intelligence Agency
Wall Street
Theory of Evolution
Hoover Dam
Battlefield Medicine

Next age:
Internet
Apollo
SETI
Cancer
Longevity
Research lab
SDI
Manhattan

Military:
Heroic Epic
Military Academy
Pentagon

Edit: I forgot some!

damn that came around quick. I'm at work at the moment so won't be able to play until tonight. Skip if you want but I'm keen to play in about 8 hours.

cool, ta. Also, battlefield medicine wasn't listed in Kiech's list. but it is only 1cpt for 500 shields! (not to mention the shield of all the hospitals it requires)

And also to mention that we don't know Sanitation yet, and we don't really need it either.

preturn
4t left on the embargo with india vs the ottomans
Gandhi won't accept an embargo vs the aztecs for anything
(He currently has an active trade with them)
From Microbe's last comments I adjust to sci70%, 102gpt, 2806g, Electricity in 7t
switch Vladivostok to court and buy for 244g

IBT
America contact us requesting and MPP, I decline

1305AD (1)
Vladivostok court->iron works (now 75t)
RRing with workers continues

IBT
pollution at moscow

1310AD (2)
pollution cleaned

IBT
Ottomans and India sign MA vs Germany
Otto's declare
Ottomans and India sign MA vs America
Otto's declare
Iroquois and India sign MA vs Germany

1315AD (3)
Yakutsk Temple->Cathedral

1320AD (4)
Renew embargo with India against Ottomans
Crap, Germany only have 1 city left!
I gift him into the IA
Then trade him Nationalism+World Map for Medicine+Music+Economics+Democracy+Navigation+Military Tradition
(cost less techs to include steam but aztecs still don't have it)
Upgrade 17 Muskets for 1020g
will get the ones outside cities when our rifles can move

1325AD (5)
upgrade all but 2 remaining muskets, 2 rifles have been loaded onto a galleon and are enroute to Vladivostok
sci60%, 147gpt, 1214g, Electricity stays 2t

IBT
We lost our supply of Iron (can't see who we were getting it from at the moment, it must have been pillaged)
It appears a large cash deal is gone now too so maybe it expired

1330AD (6)
St. Petersburg Factory->Cathedral
Novgorod Factory->Cannon
MM Novgorod but can only get it to 39spt without starvation
Decided 31 is as good as 39 when we get more food(for 'free' workers) and can give some production to Yakutsk (and in the end gives Buffalo an extra shield too)
all cities are now on rail (some only just, but still working best tiles first)

1335AD (7)
We discover Electricity
sci50%, +28gpt :-(, 1290g, Scientific Method 9t
We complete Universal Sufferage in Moscow
Moscow US->rifle
MM moscow, but can only drop it's spt to 48. (moved only tiles with less than 3 comm and worked BG instead of hill with the last)
Yaroslavl' factory->cathedral
Rifles arrive in Vladivostok, Muskets arrive in Yaroslavl', move to Novgorod and St. Petersberg and upgrade to replace the two I shipped
America and Ottomans have Communism, both still Democracy at the moment

1340AD (8)
Novgorod cannon->cannon
Buffalo Factory->Temple
MM but realise it's already exactly 30 after corruption.
heheheh, I would have been struggling to find that extra shield without the rearrange earlier
(actually, RRing is now going on down there so that's probably helped too)

1345AD (9)
Yekaterinburg uni->temple
Moscow rifle->rifle

1350AD (10)
Novgorod cannon->worker
Buffalo temple->cathedral

I checked each of my turns and Indias trade with Aztecs never expired (or maybe renewed). Aztecs still haven't picked up the extra coal.
