Mic3 - Wonder Expansion

Ok, sounds good. I'll stock up arty and cossacks, and see where we're at near the end of my turns. If we're in good position, I'll attack.

Preturn- We look good.

IT- Ottomans and Iroquois sign an MPP.
Ottomans offer us a MPP. Not a chance in hell, Osman.

T1 1405

Nothing much. I decide to bring home the cossacks on our ironworks island, as they'll be needed for the war.

IT- zzz

T2 1410

Alls quiet. RP and ToE in two turns.

IT- zzz

T3 1415

I micro manage Novgorod to get it's police station a turn earlier.

IT- My apprehension was unwarranted, as Replaceable Parts comes in and is followed by....

MIC3KB.JPG

We pick up Atomic Theory and Electronics as planned. I set research to Sanitation at 40% (10 turns).

T4 1420

Moscow starts Hoover Dam (11 turns)

I upgrade all our cannons to arty for around 1600 gold.

I try to upgrade our rifles, but we have no rubber. Interestingly enough, rubber sits right next to the Indian city of Dacca, right outside our borders

IT- zzz

T5 1425

Not much. I start positioning troops on the border.

IT- We lose our spices, and India declares war on China. We have some riots due to the lost spices. Ottomans also declare on the Chinese. As do the Iroquois.

T6 1430

I sell Montezuma Electricity for spices. Nothing much else. I think I'll declare next turn if everything is still going smooth.

IT- Our silks/Incense deal with India expires. I let it, as we'll be free to declare.

T7 1435

Thankfully, I was able to scroll through all our cities and prevent riots this time around. I set lux to 10% to compensate and get most everyone back to work.

I honorably cancel our embargo against the Ottomans, and declare war on India.

Oh boy. I might have bitten off more than we'd like to chew. Our righteous attack on India has drawn the Ottomans in via their MPP that I forgot all about :crazyeye:

Siege of Dacca-

Our arty goes 9 for 14 at Dacca, redlining all defenders. Our first Cossack moves in and is redlined, but kills a rifle. Our next one loses only one hp and kills a rifle, so I try to blitz with him, and succeed, promoting him to elite. The next Cossack wins flawlessly, and Dacca burns to the ground

Our borders expand to include the rubber :D

I upgrade all the rifles in our cities to infantry fro 540g.

IT- The only Indian units we see are a longbow and rifle dropped off at the Ironworks island.

T8 1440

Our artillery opens up on Indus, going a perfect 10/10, redlining all defenders. The cossacks then move in, killing the rifles and losing only one in the process, and Indus is history.

I move our unused arty down south and give Konya some loving. They all hit their mark.

Not much else. I shuffle some Cossacks south to begin invasion there next turn.

IT- We lose one cossack to counter attacks, but that is all. Several Indian units die at the feet of our border defense in the south.

T9 1445

I open up on Konya again, going 11 for 14. Cossacks move in, losing four and burning the city.

Theres nothing much else to report.

IT- Several Indian units insist upon attacking the rifles fortified inside our lone barricade  They all die or retreat.

T10 1450

I move our artillery, some infantry, and a load of cossacks further south. They're ready for more offensive action next turn.

Summary

India doesn't want to talk yet, and we don't really need them to talk. We're owning this war so far. Most of our troops are in the south, but I've left a modest force of 6 or so cossacks in the north to deal with any problems. I'd say we raze at least the other two Indian cities to the south. If their counter attacks don't pick up, we could possibly take another city from them in the north. On a side note, we'll probably want to queue up a settler or two for when we sign peace, so we can snatch up the available city sites.

Watch the troops on the Ironworks Island, they might try to destroy our coal. Go get em' grs!!!

Several comments:

1. good job in razing the cities! :hammer:

2. replace rifles with our infantry in the field, and upgrade those rifles in the cities asap. We don't need to put them in the open. Only need to fortify on resources and hills/mountains. I'm a bit nervous to see some of our cities only have 2 defenders!

3. build some settlers out of Yakutsk (do we want to abandon it?). we need to secure the rubber particularly. The original location of Dacca seems nice to settle, or the furs.

4. what happened to the ironworks island? I am pretty sure it used to have a few cossacks and I've put all of them on all tiles of the island so no landing would be possible. please reinforce it with 4 more units and do the same thing again.

5. more leader fishing is needed. Remember cossack can attack 3 times every turn, so try to use the same cossack to kill more units if it's still healthy.

6. we need more infantry protecting the arti stack. Sipahi is powerful.

7. America finally has its own iron. Our deal runs out in 3 turns. We can trade Sci Meth for Corporation+3 lux+cash at that time. Or we can buy wines by cash now.

I played the first 5 turns in the last hours and need a break now. As I now read what you suppose, I am afraid I did it completely different. I kept the 3 Indian cities in the south (abandoned one now). The reason was speed! I could move around much faster while keeping the cities. I would keep the remaining two. They are not much in danger now (below 0,5%), have no resisters and will be starved in 2/3 turns - flip risk will be zero with garrisons. Doing this I managed to end the war with India in 5 turns and could take another 5 cities from him, securing the rubber and complete removing India from the south.

The Ottos are in a bad mood from last war and still wont talk, but are no threat. The signed in the 5-city-iroquis who showed us a galley, but didnt dare to land with the spear in it :) I will make peace as soon as possible, because waring them will lead us to nothing.

I would start the forbidden palace in Buffalo (6 turns) and resettle Antalya. Turnlog below. I may finish it tonight or tomorrow. Suggestions and flames :devil2: welcome.

PreTurn: wake cossacks and move them to barracks to heal; wake all worker, rr new gained land and rework irrigated tiles; upgrade 7 more rifles; research to 70% - sanitation in 2; fire clowns
IBT: China and America MA vs Aztechs; Indian longbow redlines an infantry and lands 2 rifles near Buffalo, which is struck by pollution
1455AD: lose a vet. cossack vs a rifle and kill it with an elite one; advance on Ganges; lose 3 cosacks killing 2 Indian rifles on a hill; kill another one on open ground
IBT: Montezuma demands scientific method - no; Indians lose a longbow and show a lot of troops in the north; sanitation in
1460AD: Ganges bombarded and captured flawlessly; lose a cosack killing 2 elephants; lose an elite rilfe to a longbow and kill it with an infantry; kill an elephant with a rifle and get a leader; take some slaves and kill another longbow in the south; close the northern border with infantry; dial up Abe and trade in sanitation for the coorperation + 30gpt; buy wines from Abe for 17gpt (yes, I know I could have this easier) - lux to zero, sci to refining at 50%
IBT: 2 Ottoman Sipahi enter the southern Indian lands (former Chinese); India shows massive presece at the north border but does not dare to attack
1465AD: kill an elephant in the north; Hangchow bombarded and taken flawlessly; Ivan the Terrible forms an army (we could rush th fp - but we could also build one in 7 turns); Buffalo changed to settler in 1; army loaded with 3 vet. cossacks; cossack army kills 2 rifles at Antalya; lose a vet. cossack and take Antalya; kill the 2 Sipahi and close Ottoman border with infantries
IBT: we lose our dyes; Ottos attack, lose 3 sipahi and kill 2 infantries; Indians attack and kill 1 infantry while losing 3 med. inf. 7 rifles and 1 longbow
1470AD: we suffer from war-weariness, but I need one more turn of war to secure the rubber; bombard Dacca (new founded at the ruins near the rubber) and raze it flawlessly; reinforce southern border; notice Vladivostok is not growing - we should let it grow one time before continuing the Iron Works; reinforce northern border; buy dyes for 22gpt from Abe; Ottos still wont talk
IBT: Iroquis want an embargo vs. Chinese - no; Ottos and Iroquis sign a MPP and Iroquis declare
1475AD: disband Antalya and found Orenburg - its position is not quite optimal due the 2 coastal tiles it will have; but it is good to secure rubber; hurry libraries in former Indian cities; Yakutsk switched to settler to replace Antalya when Hoover is finished next turn; Ghandi gives Xinjan for peace and I take and abandon it (it was a small enclave in Ottos land). I talk to Ghandi again and sell him the furs we captured + 10gpt for incense and silks, lux to zero - we have 2 content citizens rest is Indian or happy.

We could trade with Abe or Ghandi and give sci. Method + x for refining - I would like to know if we have oil.

Sounds good so far grs!

Edit after you posted your first 5 turns:

A leader! Excellent! As ToE has been built, definatley trade it for refining, we need to find the oil quick. Don't worry about Orenburg, we can always move it later...plus it looks like a good place to take Calcutta from.

What is your take on Aydin, is it going to go? I say raze it, and get us more workers.

Have we got a victory for the leader (i.e., Heroic Epic and Military Acadamy buildable?) before making peace? Oh I see we did, so HE amd MA next up in our capital! :goodjob: And we'll soon be able to build Wall Street and Battelefield Mecine. If nothing else, build two armies and we are ready for Pentagon. And Intelligence Agency will be available soon, hopefully. That's about all culture buildings in the IA, and we'll end up with more than 90cpt!

Also avoid attacking Ottomans in its territory. Make it defensive. (they still have MPP right?)

Orenburg is a bit too far. I would have liked it one tile to the south to secure the rubber, have less flip risk, be able to build a harbor and allow another city between it and Moscow.

Oh yeah, get Refining.

I think we should relocate Yakutsk.

By the way, pay attention to the number of cities so we don't found more than allowed.

At last, do not forget to sell the coal plant once Hoover is done.

1475AD: continued - move troops trade scientific method to Ghandi for refining + 725gold - our oil is near Chittagong, if we are going to take it, it will not be in my turns, but we can claim our silks on the way. Nobody has steel yet, we have enough small wonders to build in Moscow so I turn research off. St. Pete, Yaroslavl and Novgorod switched to hospitals.
IBT: Ottos lose 2 Sipahi and show some ships near Vladi; Mao demands sanitation - no. We complete the Hoover Dam - Heroic Epic in 4. The Czarina is loved.
1480AD: Moscow mm to Heroic Epic in 3; movement
IBT: Lincoln demands scientific method - no - he declares; Ottomans land 1(!) sipahi near Vladi and lose another in the south
1485AD: kill the sipahi and land reinforcements; Krasnoyarsk founded
IBT: Ottos lose 4 sipahis killing 2 infantries
1490AD: Ottos lose a sipahi; we complete the Heroic Epic in Moscow and the Forbidden Palace in Buffalo
IBT: --
1495AD: --
IBT: --
1500AD: --

Nothing special - we cant make peace yet. We should when we can. I would not relocate Orenburg - it is flipsafe. If you relocate Yakutsk there will be a good place se of Moscow, but check overlap.

Yakutsk is already overlapping with Calcutta. Moving it south would only make overlapping bettre if we want to found a city SE to Moscow (the previous Indian city), which I think we should do. We can sponsor 12 cities right now.

Next player please sell the coal plant in Moscow.

We can also keep some research. Maybe Espionage for IA?

EDIT: I checked the save:

We can actually buy oil from India by 1g.

Also MPP between India and Ottomans has ended, so I don't mind if we raze Izmit and settle a town to get the coal and silks (one tile NW to Izmit).

I still want to relocate Yakutsk. Either move it SE to Moscow as I suggested above or claim the silks/coal from Ottomans.

India culture is 36806.

??? I said nothing of moving it south. I said to move it to the free space se of Moscow, which is probably the same region you intend for it.

We have no oil - see where we can get one.
Ghandi has our oil in his tundra city next to our border.

I didn't make it clear: I wanted to move it south. Check my previous dotmap. Then put in another city SE to Moscow.

I'm not too strong on this since it's already done, but that's what I would have done.

The save.

Not wanting to lose the steam GRS gave us, I download and start the game immediatley after his post...and halfway through, I get totally sidetracked by my wife. So some of the things you have discussed aren't applicable. This is a very turbulant turnset.

Preflight: Coal plant in Moscow sold for 40g. I note a lone Galleon about to be smacked by the Otto's next turn, I reinforce it with another Galleon, hopefuly that will let us save the troops.

Orenburg should be moved, but I kind of like it where it is right now. If it moves it will conflict for a lot of spaces vs Madras. I will look at this as I play.

Elephant hunter moves to undefended Moscow to upgrade.

Oil: India has 4 sources total, China has 1, and the Iroquois have 1 as well. 6- that means we shoud take one of them. The only oil I want to bother with is in India, and we have forced peace with them for another 15 turns...and they have a source of rubber - bad news.

As there are no MPP out there, I decide to take down Aydin. I don't need it pushing on any of our cities. There is nothing of note there, so it will be razed.

I see the point of not researching Steel, as we can easily trade for it. I leave it off for now, as I should be able to steal or trade for it later.

IBT: 4 Sapihi land near Vlad. I can't stop the attack, but I am able to reinforce the city.

(1)1505: I raze both Aydin and Izmit. I try, but get no promotions or leaders.
I set Yakutsk to a setter. I know just where to put him.

IBT: We lose 2 cossacks at Vlad. Hangchow and Yekaterinburg riot. Hangchow because the Indians were quite mean to them, and Yekat due to WW...ugh. Instead of raising lux, I just give them clowns.

(2)1510: I attack the evil Sapihi at Vlad, and pop a leader! Now I am put at a crossroads. Does Peter the Great finish the Ironworks, or an army? I decide to finish the Ironworks, as we don't even have a barracks at this place yet. I lose one horse killing the rest of the Otto troops at Vlad, and promote another. Vlad Island is now completely safe until Marines.

I attack a small stack of Otto Rifles with a settler. And get Stalin!!! Since all of the other small wonders will be built in Moscow, I rush him over to Hangchow to form an army. 2 down, 1 to go!

I found Khabarovsk, it will have silks after an expansion. It shares 1 mountain with an Indian town, but most importantly, it gives us a better water route to Vlad. I rush a library there. Many Cossacks go to Hangchow to heal up.

IBT: Iron works complete. India starts moving elephants into our lands.

(3)1515: There are Indian Riflemen next to Hangchow, probably on their way home. Hoping to pick a fight, I tell them to leave. India Declares! As I am done picking on Otto, I offer him peace. I get 2 workers out of the deal. I also take on a ROP.

I attack Chengdu, as its an annoying little town...and Lenin comes to join us! Moscow switches to the Pentagon, after learning that both military wonders produce 1cpt. Now unconcerned with poping any leaders, I attack with the army and take the city down.

I make peace with the Iroquois. Abe won't talk to us yet. Lux up to 20%.

I lose a few cossacks trying to remove the Indian troops from our lands.

IBT: The americans appear off of our west coast.

(4)1520: Troop movements.

IBT: Americans land calvary on our land. Aztecs and India sign an embargo vs us. Pentagon completes. Start military academy. Pollution strikes buffalo.

(5)1525: I kick Abe's people off of our lands, and then make peace with him. I offer 150g to seal the deal. He is currently trading with India for oil. I get dyes, wines, spices, and gems from abe for furs and 24gpt.

We become the proud owners of the Sistene Chapel. I disband Khabarovsk to keep it, and note to not be so jumpy next time when settling.

(6)1530: 29gpt to Otto for silks. Sci to 40%. Lux to zero.

IBT: I think the Indians are going to attack via Hangchow next turn. Otto kills off the Chineese.

(7)1535: Raze Chittagong. The oil is unclaimed. Brynsk is founded to secure the oil and silks. Yekaterinburg is abandoned. Orenburg is abandoned in favor of Tver', to secure our rubber. An extreemly healthy force has made Hangchow our southern fortress. Next turn I will consider peace with India.

IBT: India makes a futile attempt at peace. I decline.

(8)1540: We Raze the last Indian oil town on the mainland and score 2 cannons. I look to peace with the Indians. Offering up Atomic theory, I can get Espinage, 36gpt, and 2294g. I decide to take it. I set up some blocks along the oil and silks, we will expand our new towns soon, but I want to be sure. Sci to 50%.

IBT: The aztec/inda embargo vs us ends...because the Americans destoyed the Aztecs.

(9)1545: I call up Gandhi about his incense. I offer silks, and he promises incense, 16gpt, and 17g! He is gonna sneak attack me, isn't he? I take it.

IBT: Palace expansion. Culture expansions, and the Indians leave our area.

(10)1550: Almost done barracading the south.

End: I ended all of the wars, took some good land, and secured the Pentagon. Very fun turns! Resarch was pretty low throughout this turnset, but the only tech out there is Facism. Check the flipcalc before playing your turnset, but I think I have enough troops in the threatened towns. The KGB is due next turn, but you can change it to the Military Academy if you wish. We need 2 more stock exchanges to qualify for Wall Street.

I could have been more efficient in my turns...but we are in good shape to win. America is our only real threat, as it is HUGE.

Pictures comming.

Good job. Too good actually. Initially I just wanted to get a little more room and now we have to stop otherwise we'll get a conquest victory. :) OK let's play peaceful again.

I think we can stop producing more military?

Occupy all the tiles around oil colony otherwise AI would try to settle there.

artillary's broken? what about bombers? :)
I've had games where my borders have been defended by 2 inf in each city and 20 bombers in the middle border city. (in this situation the inf hardly ever have to fight)
although I do agree replacable parts is a very over powered tech. (inf and art can pretty much conquer the world and you get faster workers too)
