Mic5 - The Butt Kisser

Russia is NW of us and will expand faster than us.

I will take the NW first spot to secure the wheat and horses, after that everything will be a race anyways.

And also, I put those dots (N'ish ones) close so they both can use the other wheat. The city closest to the horse can be built up and the other (the coastal) can be used for workers. Otherwise they fit tight and nice, this is deity and we need all those spots.

Ok, will play now.

Pre-turn - Change the settler to spear in 1t, it will slow down the settler by a turn, but better safe than sorry.

Russia have 5 cities already! Germany have 4.

2510bc - London spear -> settler.

Our N curragh greets a Chinese warrior, they know IW and Masonry. IW would cost 3 techs and most of our gold and gpt, no deals. They also have 5 cities.

Send curragh E to explore new lands.

2470bc - Germany starts Pyramids!

There are incense near the flood-plains.

2350bc - London settler -> barracks. Send pair to NW wheat.

Germany knows Writing already and IW has been traded around. Buy it from China for Alphabet, Pottery and 28g. Can't see any iron.

2190bc - York founded -> worker. Fog got busted and reveal a cow, not for this city though.
Too bad we didn't scout that area before.

Lots of small islands around.

Germany lost a town to a volcano.

2150bc - Curragh moves into sea and spots pink borders over the strait, exploration here is done so I suicide him to see who's there. It's Iraq lol:, they know Masonry and CB.

Germany are the only ones with Writing so far.

I think it would be wise to use the spots I dotted, it will be a nice "wall" of cities against any enemies and London is protected. If we follow this or not, next town must go to the other wheat and next after that to the cow.

I agree. we're going to have quite a few cities on top of us soon, and with no iron to boot. care for a early horse charge? :D if so, maybe we should begin hording chariots for upgrade.

I like the tight placement idea, because no mater what we do we won't be able to prouce settlers fast enough to compete in quantity. Our only hope is in quality, so if we have to have fewer cities they might as well have minimum corruption and best workable tiles. After this initial expansion, we'll have to go to war, anyway.

And I have to say I'm going out of town for a few days, so please skip me until Monday. I hate to request a skip so early, because these turns are the most fun for me, but oh well :(

Does this mean I am up now? if so I prolly wont have time to play till tomorrow, since up in another SG and have some other things I need to do today too.

2150BC, inherited turn:

Nothing much.. getting familiar with the situation. We seem to be growing pretty slow. Atleast we have lots of contacts.
Iraqis are building oracle, germans the pyramids.

IBT:
Russians start pyramids. Would be nice if russians or germans build it for us ;P

2210BC, turn 1:
explore some, else nothing

IBT:
London: Barracks -> settler(while I figure out what to best build next)
Chinese start building pyramids.

2070BC, turn 2:
London will produse 15 shields next 2 turns, 23shields next 3 turns and 31 shields next 4 turns.
Decide to leave it on settler even if that will drop it to 6 food below size 3 on completion, since this wastes least shields (could build curragh with no loss, but it would take ages to get somewhere useful for exploring)

2030BC, turn 3:
Spot another cow next to the other cow to the west.. guess the next city goes there,, it will be on coast and have 2 BG, tobacco, and forest as workable tiles aswell.
Russia has writing aswell now, can buy it from them for 216gold and 4gpt. Decide not to.. only 7 turns left on research and that will be a lot cheaper..

1990BC, turn 4:
Spot another border past iraq, no contact yet.
lux has to go to 20%

1950BC, turn 5:
Contact the french.
France is building pyramids aswell.

france, germany and russia is up writing on us.
everyone is up masonry and ceremonial burial.
Atleast iraq has mysticism

IBT:
London: Settler -> warrior (will complete in 2 turns with no loss)
French start building oracle.

1910BC, turn 6:
lux to 0%
send settler towards the 2 cows.

IBT:
Russia is sending a settler pair towards the cows.. we are due to arrive at spot first.. but they might have another spot in mind..
York: worker->worker

1870BC, turn 7:
Use warrior to block russian settler pairs path, and they stear away from cows for now..

IBT:
London: warrior -> spear (will complete with 1 shield loss)

1830BC, turn 8:
block path with warrior again

1790BC, turn 9:
Contact koreans, they are not building any wonders. They have writing,CB and masonry
China has gotten hold of writing now.. only iraq miss it.. we get it next turn.
beat russians to cow spot.

IBT:
writing comes in.. set research to literature for now untill I know what the other civs has.
Russians start colossus.

1750BC, turn 10:
found nottingham next to the 2 cows.

Spot what looks like AMERICAN border!!! :goodjob:
But no contact yet.

Writing gives us masonry and CB from Iraq (they are only ones that dont have writing yet)

Tech situation:
china is equal to us.
everyone has mysticsism (except us and china)

germany has monopoly on mapmaking
germany and russia has philosophy and horseback riding (lack mathematics)
korea,france and iraq has mathematics

Next turn we will finally know the last civ, the americans. Afterthe rules he first have to establish embassy with them then.
After thay see what techs we can get.. try to make sure Bush gets the best deal of the AIs

PS! Did you notice that Putin and Chirac are wearing drags in this game? :D

Mic5_1750BC.jpg

Edit: umm.. the text I added to picture ended up pretty unreadable.. they point at 'America' and 'russian settler pair'

The save

Good job on the contacts. Some of the Russian towns have to go!

Next spot should probably be the grassland NE to the ivory. Russian settler is probably going to that spot, so I would take a risk and switch spear to settler.

Then the next should be NE to the horses?

Forgot to mention.. france and korea are the only ones with iron connected.. and everyone but france has horses connected.

A good chance russia has no iron..

Next spot should probably be the grassland NE to the ivory. Russian settler is probably going to that spot, so I would take a risk and switch spear to settler.
Yeah, they will prolly head there next. Not that risky thou.. have a vet warrior waiting in london to escort settler already.. only problem is that London will drop a lot in size. Nottingham should soon be able to build settlers much better than london thou, and london can do mostly pure military.

Preflight check: Cities look fine. Switch London to Settler (due in 3T)
Russia: Buy Philo ffor 270g
Korea: Get Math and 8g for Philosophy
Russia: Get Myst and HBR and 172g for Math

Turn Research off to gain some cash. Germany only has 61g for Math and will not give up Map Making so I’ll wait a couple of turns.

IBT: Koreans ask us to leave.
Russian forces move SE
Germany demands math and, wish hushed breath, I refuse. They don’t declare.

T1: 1725BC Seems like Germany was able to swap MM for Math with the Russians. Dingy moves 1T N and spots 2 American workers roading a gold hill. Big Brother is down Writing and HBR but has 45g.
Build an Embassy in Washington DC. He’s drinking wine and building a big statue with a stick. Has 3 spears sitting there but no iron or horses. Luckily, he’s a happy drunk today and is not picking on anyone nearby.
Take all his money (45g) for Writing. Hold onto HBR as none of his neighbor’s know that tech.
Dingy continues N. Stingy goes SW along island coast and spots iron.

IBT: Russian warrior/settler pair head W.

T2: 1700BC Stingy and Dingy continue exploring. Workers are improving the area around York.

IBT: London Settler -> settler

T3: 1675BC settler/warrior pair heads NW. I’m going for the horse/ivory spot NE of York. That location should put both in our border.

IBT: Bush demands that we leave. No problemo.

T4: 1650BC Warrior/settler pair moving. Exploring as well. Worker finishes road near York and moves to cow N of Nottingham.

IBT: York worker -> warrior
Koreans are building the Oracle and finish the colossus.

T5: 1625BC Moving
IBT: Americans building the Pyramids.

T6: 1600BC Hastings founded -> warrior. Switch York to Worker

T7: 1575BC Putin’s looking at me a little funny (maybe it’s the surgery) so I build an Embassy in Moscow. Has horses and is building settlers. Also has 2 lux’s.

IBT: Russians building the Oracle.

T8: 1550BC

IBT: London settler -> warrior
Iraqis are building the Pyramids

T9: 1525BC Korea and China now have Map Making and we’re up a bunch of stuff on them :)
Trade: Korea: get MM for HBR and 4g
Worker completes road to Hastings, moves to Ivory.

T10: 1500BC Iraq now has a Monopoly on Construction. Cannot buy it for anything but they are down a bunch of tech’s to the Koreans so it should be available for purchase in a few turns.

Settler is heading for the grassland coast tile NE of the ivory. Workers are near Nottingham so that city should be in good shape very soon. Another worker due from York very soon to help hook up the horses and get Hastings growing.

We may want to build an embassy in Germany and China soon to keep the locals less frisky. We need time to build up for war or build SoZ.

Also, it's probably best to forgo the granery in Nottingham and switch to settler. We could really use another town.

mic5-1500BC.jpg

preturn: I switch London to spear in 6 turns, and Hastings to rax. Start min research on Lit.

1475BC: France and Korea have Construction too. We can get it but then we'll be facing demand from Germany or Russia, so I hold on until we can make more trades out of it.

1425BC: Germany has Polytheism. Get Construction form Iraq by Philosophy+Map Making+HBR+44g. Get Poly+113g from Germany by Construction.

I really don't know why America is so far behind with the biggest territory.

1350BC: We connect horses.

1300BC: America must have researched Poly and it now only down Map Making.

Russia demands Construction and I cave.

1250BC: raise lux to 20.

Zeus will be completed in about 20 turns. The worker irrigating the horses should go to improve BG at our capital to speed this up. We'll need AC and horsemen to improve our situation. Do not connect and sell a second ivory before Zeus is completed!

Nottingham is another productive city. I am building a settler to found another town. It should go to found on the red dot. I thought about yellow dot next for a while, but it wouldn't use the BGs any better, so probably we don't want it.

I don't know if York should be building a temple.

You guys appear to be packed in pretty tightly. Maybe you could expand by colonizing some islands? You are seafaring, after all. ;)
