I've had Civ 3 and then later the conquests expansion for as long as as they've both been out. It's always run smoothly, never giving me any problems before, even when I started to get bored and dl and work on my mods and scenarios; no issues.

However in the last month something has devolped. Whenever I, the user, move from the ancient age to the middle ages, the game crashes. Just crashes. The AI players can make the change without any issues its only when the human player does it that the game crashes.

Now I've already tried reinstalling the game twice, my disk isn't badly stratched, my computer hasn't been damaged in any way and my I don't have any villanous software (adware, spyware, viruses, etc) on my computer.

Can anyone please tell me what kind of issues i'm experincing here and how to fix it?

Ok guys seriously. This thread has been here quite a while now and no one has even had the decency to leave a comment, let alone help. Do any of you know what's wrong or what?

Maybe your Civ disc is damaged? It happend to me once, althou I couldn't see any straches...
Maybe you could try to play with another disc?

Have you COMPLETELY removed game before reeinstalling? (Add/Remove option)

I don't know what else could it be. I hope that you will fix it.

Alright, it's fixed, but I still don't know what the issue was. Yes Tomislav I had completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, twice like i said and it didn't fix it. Then under a friend's advice I tried that again. Uninstalled conquests, uninstalled vanilla civ, reinstalled them both and bingo, it magically works!

I had a somewhat similar problem, the "Knight Death.wav" problem (search the forums). I had to uninstall C3C, uninstall vanilla C3, reinstall C3, install the C3 patches, and finally reinstall C3C. (If you bought an earlier version of C3C, you'd then have to install the C3C patches.) Then it worked. The order was important
