Middle East PBEM

It's still a suboptimal choice.

Yay!

I have already gone above and beyond to keep you happy. Just play :) You can upload my save again and I will replay. Can't wait to see UN/Arab League election results. Also please check second post later today with briefing about your situation and things you might find odd.

What the hay am I supposed to do with my settlers? Is that supposed to be a joke? If so the it's on all of you because Imma gonna colonize Uganda with them. :D

Also is it intentional that there are no restrictions on unit gifting?

Does the rule about no open borders for western and eastern blocks only count for each other or all civs?

Am I allowed to trade resources and money between western block and Israel?

Played my turns, who do I send the save to now? Also could you please update the Tracker while I'm at it?

Uganda is not on the map but one spot in Sinai can be settled, once you get it occupied. Ideally -- mod had to allow settlements within 1 tile, not 2, but we got what we got. Most initial settlers in this mod are for flavor as well as rabbis.

Arms trade! Major part of this game and the Cold War.

All civs. No "arms trade" before 1953.

You can trade anything with anyone. Better get that coal from Lebanon before AI if you want electricity in your bases in Cyprus.

Working on it, just email me the turn meanwhile.

Second Post updated!

Any news about the elections? :groucho:

Said Ibn Tamur is the leading candidate for the Apostolic Palace. :(

Well it is still 1948, Nasser did not become very popular just yet with the fellow Arabs. Egypt is still ruled by a king. My both civs voted for Nasser by the way, please remember it during the rainy day! :wavey:

Tracker is updated! Thanks, methinkso! :hatsoff:

Come on Rodrigo, don't be as stubborn as your civs were in real life! What do you ask for peace?

Also what's with the lack of flood plains in Egypt and Iraq?

Also lol @ all those AI civic changes

They have enough food at deltas. Cairo needs 3 turns to grow at the start. Isn't it enough? Furthermore -- post colonial inefficiencies must be present somehow. It is up to the Arab leaders to make their countries more powerful than small Israel!

I think it takes 9 turns on Epic in between UN activity. A little more for AP (or should I call it AL -- Arab League?).

Humm... small Israel is, nevertheless, a big and powerful country... also counts with the help of the Western Allies... time is on their side, definitively... if left quiet, to expand and grow, it will be a great concern to their neighbours in the near future, namely Egypt... not good..

What Egypt's friend Stalin thinks about this war? Will Stalin also provide any support to their Arab friends when the West be able to gift Israel with new units?

Well the unhealth would penalize them quite a bit.

How about we cut a deal: We make peace and we promise not to buy weapons from the west?

In 1948 Eastern Block was actually helping Israel ;) And Egypt was firmly pro-Western. So it all depends who will capture what. My worst nightmare would be if 2 players decide to fight AI instead. USSR therefore firmly opposes any territorial gains and will support the clear underdog in this fight :mischief:.

Huh, that sounds like a good idea actually. Rodrigo, what you say to us joining forces against Jordan?

No!!! Destroy each other please!

In fact, it would be a good idea and I would gladly join you in an long term alliance if you were playing only with Israel... But you are also playing with the Western Allies, which turns you, by far, in my opinion, the strongest faction in the game. Egypt and Iraq won't gain anything with a peace treaty at the moment.

As such, Egypt needs to keep some pressure on Israel, as to try to gain a little more time in the future.

Nevertheless, the response of Stalin to our request was not at all friendly. So, if you propose something really balanced and interesting, Egypt and Iraq might hear it with great attention...

Hmmmm, the West could supply you with money and weapons?

Alas, Egypt seems to continue with the senseless bloodshed.

Btw is gifting Great People allowed? They aren't really weapons after all.

There is no rule about gifting units. There is a rule about open borders. You cannot open them with Western Allies. Meaning if any Western unit does not require open borders to sneak into Israeli tile -- it can be gifted. Spies, Submarines, Great Spies and Merchants, to name a few!

Whoops, never mind then.

Btw why didn't Israel start with a Great Engineer like it does in the singleplayer scenario?
