Does anyone now the books of Raymond e feist?
I do, and i'm making (in progress) a mod of it.
It has 11 new civilizations,
and a scenario were i recreated the world of Midkemia and you can play as one of the three rising powers on Novindus (one of the three continents). On the main continet (about 3 times Novindus) you have 2 domenating powers and a couple of small ones (some of them are vassals of the big one). They are still some islands besides the continets and on the third continent is a civilazation that covers most of that continent and has very good defense army, but can't sail so you'll only fight with them when you go to there. I've taken the adavnced technologies out, so you don't have a really big disadvantage over the bigger nations. The only win is conquest.

Welcome to CFC, mfie!

As keldath says, the subforums are only for threads will completed files. So, until you finish your mod, please try to keep discussion in this main forum.

Why 2 powers ?
I would create 3 or 4, Kesh, the Dark Elfes, and maybe split the Kingdom (or however it's called in english) in the eastern and the western part.

And why do you place it in Novindus?
There are not so much references in the books for a good story, imho.

But i wish you much luck for your mod, will be interesting, i'll follow the thread.

I said 2 domenating powers ;), there are a couple of small ones (Like the vassals of Kesh and the Moredhels)
Srry for posting here then

Could someone give a rundown on the factions and what it even is about? A simple fantasy mod would be nice.

In the middle, there's the kingdom
It's a typical european middle ages fantasy civ.
It's high fantasy, not dark. For example, in the kingdom they play a kind of soccer and have public toilets (thought, that this is really strange :D).
The kingdom has to parts: The eastern and the western part. Most books are placed in the western part.

In the south, there's Great Kesh.
It's a middle ages arabian civ.

At the top, behind the mountains, are the dark elfes.

That are the 3 big factions.

Between the kindom and the dark elfes, there are 2 smaller factions, the dwarfes and the elves (both allied with the kingdom).

In the southeast and around the sea there are some pirates and trolls.

There are also goblins in Midkemia, but no orks.

There's another continent, Novindus.
I don't know, if there's much written of it in the books.
It seems to be also a european middle ages style civ.
The continent is only mentioned, because it's invaded by a type of orclike creatures from another world.

There's magic in Midkemia, but not very much, only a few magicians, but they are powerfull.

Imho, Midkemia is not a good place for a strategy game, because there are not really much factions. It's better for RPGs.
The parallel world, Kelewan (middle ages asian fantasy), would be a better choice, i think, because there are 5 big and several smaller factions, but the acceptance of it would not very high, i assume.

I'm familiar with most of them and many Janny Wurts including the Empire series.

For a two player war, the Serpent Wars quadrilligy would be best.

Generally there are quite a few Nations/Civs:
3 or 4 kinds of Elves
Dragons
Valheru
Aliens studying at Sorcerers Isle
Inhabitants of the the Hall
The Kingdom
Rodan
Queg
Durbin
Kesh
Various vassals of Kesh
Sunset Isles Pirates
Trolls
Free Cities
Tribes on Novindus
Panathanian Lizard people (cold blooded)
Saaur Lizard like warm blooded
Demons
Dread Lords
The Empire, (Kelwan World) with several Human cultures and the Ant like Creatures.

Can the Civ3 map I found be loaded and edited in BTS Civ4?

Nope, no civ 3 stuff can be used in civ 4 besides music and buttons after you convert them.
