i received a military great leader, returned him to a city and i can only hurry production. will not let me build an army. this is early in the game. what else is needed? never had this before.
You are allowed one army every four cities. Unfortunately, the way it's coded is that you need at least four cities before you can get your first army.
an MGL that early in game may be put to better use on an early wonder. The Oracle or Temple of Artemis springs to mind. Build some happiness up so you can warmonger/pop rush stuff with less unhappiness
ToA is a C3C wonder. In C3C only SGL (Scientific Great Leader) can hurry a Great Wonder. A C3C MGL can hurry Small Wonders and city improvements. MGL can hurry Great and Small Wonders (+ city improvements) in VC3. ToA is not in VC3.
I think an MGL CAN rush a Forbidden Palace in C3: Complete...thats the version I have. Maybe I am wrong, I always build armies with them, but I was under the impression that a MGL could build armies and rush whatever was being built in a city, and a SGL could rush production or increse science output. I know SGL's can rush wonders, perhaps I am incorrect about MGL's.
By the way, how do you get an SGL? I know combat gives 1 in 16 chance of MGL appearance with elite victory.
Ahh, I thought it had something to do with being first to a tech. In your guy's experience is an SGL better used to increase science out put or to rush a wonder?
I would use one to rush a wonder that I deem imperative, like Sun Tzu's or LEonardos, but if I got an SGL say in the ancient age around the time when ToA or the Oracle is available, what is the opinion on the balance of increased science output vs. a wonder?
