As of a curiosity, I am wondering what the min system requirements for Civ4 will be. Since my laptop is slowly going into the low end systems due to all the newer games are being releaced today.

Please make your predictions for the min system requiremets for Civ4.

I don't think the graphics card will matter much.

The amount of memory and CPU on the other hand...

We should probably expect the same, or even less, the requirements that Pirates! has.

Civ3's requirements were good if you had a slow system, but we should also see a larger leap of requirements for Civ IV, as it is 3D now.

Well I am hoping that the min requirements would not be as extream as The Sims 2 or Star Wars: Battlefront with the crasy T&L capable video card.

I know if I buy Civ4 and the req exceads my mashine's specs. Then I would have to store it untill I buy a new laptop.

If it's more the 5 years old it probaly won't work well with Civ4. Just a guess.

Oldest T&L capable cards are almost 5 years old and it have been standard feature in graphic cards for many years (not sure about integrated graphic cards).
So most gamers have T&L capable graphics card.

If Firaxis adds supergraphics to Civ4, I hope they make it very scalable like in Half-life 2.

With Civ4 being in 3D you will need a 3D graphics card, other than that we will have to wait and see. But since most new games use DirectX 9 it would probably be good if it supported that too.

I'd guess very similar to Pirates as I suspect that they are sharing the underlying graphics engine.

The Pirates minimum spec is:

P3 1GHz (or AMD equivalent),
256 MB RAM,
1.4 GB disk space,
64 MB T&L video card that is DX 9.0c compatible

As always, this is the minimum and I doubt it will run well on the minimum.

In fact, you might need well over the min specs to actually enjoy the game with minimum glitches.
An example... Like Warpstorm said, Pirates! requires min specs of 1 GHz. However, I've seen people who have major problems with it even when they have well over 2.6 GHz, and enough memory, and even some reputable graphics cards (this is rare, and I've not had any problems like that).
I don't know why this is (maybe they just forgot to check their computers for viruses and worms), but it is always good to have as much juice as possible for new games.

They should probably start by clearing out servicies. A clean systray helps out in many occations. (and a clean task list is even better)

One of few things I'll be optimistic about, I actually think the game will be less demanding than pirates. But maybe the nature of the game (Turn Based Strategy versus an 3D Action Adventure, albeit with a lot of strategy-game elements) won't make that much of a difference.
