I'm sure they will be nothing but a minor annoyance like the rest of the mobs soon enough.
They'd better damn well not mess with anything I build.

I wouldn't put it past them. Notch did talk about some questionable stuff, like making simple torches not last forever anymore, and needing to build more expensive "lanterns" to have permanent light... Seems something happens when you actually become a game developer, I don't know what it is, but... yeah.

I'd like mobs this, creepy, but instead of just walking around doing nothing, they actively hunt the player. Like if they spawn in a 50 block radius of you, they start coming after you. Give them the ability to destroy blocks, and It'd be awesome.

Make them a different mob, and make them fairly uncommon and that would be one great enemy.

You can't always be on (I only play SMP and just like exploring and building a town-like area with friends) or everywhere at once.
I quiet like the idea. And the lanterns as well. As long as they aren't terribly expensive, and the current torches last for like 10 ingame days or something.
But I'll hold final judgment when I actually face off against them. I am a little annoyed at the "putting the targeting reticle on the monster and your as good as dead" aspect, thats going to be very hard when there are a lot of them.

So... they look really easy to kill actually. They just stand there. In full view. Nothing a diamond sword, bow and arrow or bucket of lava won't solve.

However this is a doctored video. Previous screenshots have a food and experience bar on the hud. Those are missing from this video.

And if you look at the official screenshot, their arms come down past their knees, and they look more like they're one rectangular shape rather than two small squares.
