President Muhammad Mahmadnazir al-Matari was sworn in earlier today at the steps of the capital building in Katear after frm. President Ahmed Khamrokhon al-Tasari fell severely ill the congressional legislature voted forty-seven to eight to transfer the office of the President to the thirty-six year old Mahmadnazir, the youngest President in Katikistani history (which should come as no shock, being only our second president). Katear International Airport has been popularly renamed to Khamrokhon International (although it will retain its KTA shorthand call sign). President Khamrokhon is survived by a wife, two sons and four daughters.

Stephen Browne knew that party backers wanted to see action taking place and the Liberty Party making forward strides. He also knew the party backers were into this simply for power and profit. They didn't see the grand vision of a nation of liberty filled people that Stephen did. He knew that using military troops in a pre-emptive fashion would violate the core beliefs of liberty for which the party stood. He also knew that if gains weren't made quickly, he would lose several key financiers. Time to make the hard choice...

MILITARY ORDERS
Send two volunteers in a makeshift submarine using a wooden rowboat (if i have to pay for a wooden row boat your crazy). They are to quickly move underwater, allowing air to remain in part of the ship while descending. When getting close to the nearest corvette, they are to plant explosives on the bottom of the ship, and to detonate them once further away. This should all occur at night.
More volunteers will also lay makeshift mines along the coast to prvent landing by government forces to get supplies, forcing them to go to the mainland, thus leaving breaks when supplies can get in.
300 Farmers, 300 Militia (including newly recruited ones), and 50 Mercenaries are to take positions in the hills blocking the Garrison retreat. The other Mercenaries are to at first show the other how to dig in foxholes and conceal their positions from the enemy. Then they are to take the trucks and scout out the enemy advance and to lead the enemy into a frontal assualt on my fortified position.

The people of Tasar are in ever in Mayor Beranon's debt. The crops feed the starving in Tasar. The people celbrate in the streets when the trucks arrived with food. Half of the poor Tasar farmers join with Mayor Beranon's orginization and they brgin to plant for him. Meanewhile in Kulum the first harvest brings in large amounts of cash, double that of a normal selling.

For the first time in 2 years, KTA International becomes up and running. Already flights from local countries are arriving. Suddenly large numbers of supplies arrive from the Red Cross and the UN. This has kept the people happy and has ended the supply shortage. Meanwhile Regiment A beginds to prepare an attack on Katik borders.

People's Republic of Almastan
In an unconventional act of war, the People's Republic launches what they call "turtles" at the Almastan corvettes. These turtles are basicly suicide bombers underneath a rowboat. Several young men are brave enough to step up for the job. On a quiet night, 5 turtles slip towards the corvettes. 2 turtles drown a few minutes in. Another one is unable to detonate. The final two rup apart the bow side of 1 corvette. After a single agonizing hour, the corvette stays afloat when the others find it and help it. The crew is evacuated and the corvette limps back to port. The republic rejoyces. Several young farmers join the cause. Meanwhile, Republic forces encircle the garrison's retreat. It is unknown weather they will fight or surrender.

In Kanar the Party is met with a warm reception. People in the town feel astough they are the link between the north and south, and geographicly this is true. Stephen Browne personaly campagns for the Liberty Party. Many people have already joined the party and fundraisers have turned up money. Hopes are high for the mayoral elections next month, though no one knows if Stephen is running himself. The backers begin to diverge on what path they will take. The Banker Edmond Hughs just wants to hear of the election results before putting in more money. George Caralson however wants the city of Kabal, by any means necesassary. He has given a 6 month deadline.

The outcasts leave Besa and relocate at Nassam. There they find the Military's remains and pick up where they left off. 10 tanks and 200 farmers fall into their hands aswell as old Military hideouts. Within Nassam itself the Militia once again reforms. They too do not like the radical ideas. They too feel they are Zazars who roots date back to Zazarstan 500 years ago.

In Gula, Haraldo Fornandez becomes the new druglord. He begins to sell it on the streets under cover that it is his crops. His jacked up prices brings in more money as hundreads become addicted. Several families of farmers join with the druglord to become rich.

Stephen Browne was excited. He hadn't felt so excited about the future of Almastan since he arrived to found the Liberty Party. He decided to run for the Mayor's office in Kanar himself. His reception showed a an amount of support that he hadn't been expecting, but now that he knew of it he wasn't going to let the responsibility of managing Kanar fall to someone else. He filed the proper election papers in Kanar and made the following announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen, long has been the days that the people of this nation have cried out for liberty. Long has been the days that people have yearned to be freed from the yoke of tyranny. Soon that day shall arrive. On election day, vote for Stephen Browne, the one man dedicated to the principle of liberty for all. Thank you."

Update this anytime soon?
Almastan has progressed far over the past 10 years. The Civil War in Almastan would last 3 more years until Prime Minister Kell was overthrown. The eventual confrontation between the People's Republic and the Liberation Party led into a year long war when Almastan was split into two countries. The People's Republic in the South and the Democratic Republic in the north. The Democratic Republic agreed to Katik independence and a large amount of land was donated to the new nation. The region has continued to remain underdeveloped however and warlords such as the GFF and the Freemen continued for years. In 1998 Warlord Beranon was expelled from the People's Republic for fear of his eventual rise to power. he had already gained so much support that he could have caused a second civil war. He left peacfully. He now lives his days off in asylum in Britian.
The nation of Zazarstan almost went to war with the Democratic Republic in 2001, only to be threatened by Katikistan, now ally of the Democratic Republic. Hamarstan friends with both countries. The poverty in Almastan remians mahor problem and the UN has done little for it.
