Bob was in an excellant mood today. The new army was in full swing, and the nation was ready finally to expand. He was going to give the orders later that day.
The reason behind the change of heart was that the population of nearly 20 million was bulging at the seams. The immigrating barbarians had been assimilated and had also left large areas on the emire's borders nearly empty. Expansion would come easy, the peasant class, helped by new reforms, would own much land now. Taxes could now be paid in full and the populace would be fat and happy. The new army would also be able to increase the defence of the empire as it expanded. The navy was also on the move, with a renewed effort in the search of what has been dubbed "The Land of the Rising Sun" - it was on the eastern edge of the world where the sun rises. They had already set up a colony on the north of Formosa and were looking to set up more along the way.
Many new rumors had also been circulating about another mountainous eastern kingdom closer to China. They call it by many names, but we know it is ruled by the "Choson" dynasty. Contact with them would be excellent as well.
The infrastructure was now fully developed and highly efficient. A merchant could travel from Chang'An, to Shanghai, to Wuhan without the least problems. This has also allowed the wisemen to communicate easily amongst themselves. Thus, new technologies have been discovered. These include the adaptation of the old Chin skill of Midget horse riding to let people of nearly all sizes ride them! Another one was the advent was the method of papyrus, a light-weight material excellent for writing on. the newest one, however, was the research in development of new archetectural techniques and materials. This allows for buildings of true magnificence that awe and astound all visitors and provide better living conditions for the common man.
Orders:
-Expand in all directions.
-Expand on Formosa also.
-Move northern army to the northern frontier, southern army to the southern frontier, and western to the western frontier.
-Grow Economy.
-Send navy to search for the Land of the Rising Sun and the Choson Kingdom and set up colonies along the way.
-Research Horseback Riding, Papyrus, and advances into archetecture(i.e. brick-like material, basic geometry principles applied, etc.).
Also Spacetrvler sent men to work on the converted Gothic land. He thought that maybe the prosperity ensuing from improvements would persuade the rest of the Goths to join Celtia.
