Minuteman UU

3/3/2 with no ATR is about as bad as a conquistador.

If it doesn't have a defense of at least 4, it's pretty useless since we're talking about replacing a regular defensive unit that has a 4 defense.

Maybe 4/4/1 with no ATR. You get a Samarai with only 1 movement point for 10 shields less. The strong attack combined with normal defense makes it a good alternative to the weak defense of a med inf and longbow. You get a unit that needs no supporting units - just like the guerilla unit.

What would people think of 5/4/1 but for 70 shields? Now you would have the same choice you had in the ancient era:

1) Minuteman: excellent attack, best defense for the age, but slow. OR
2) Knight: not so good attack, not so good defense, but fast. Same shield cost.

I disagree with making the minuteman an offensive unit. It should have 4 defense OR cheapness in shields and a movement bonus. You can always add an arquebusier at Metallurgy (same stats as Crusader, or one less defense, for 70 shields) to be an offensive foot unit.

here's an idea. i am not gonna propose stats, though i think attack should be weak while offense the same as musketmen. but to simulate that fact that minutemen were just regular guys...how about they are really cheap, like 15 shields, but building them takes away a pop point AND they can do worker actions! so you have an armed worker. this might be realistic, because if you got invaded suddenly, you might have a lot of minutemen out working the fields who could suddenly stop working and fight.
