Not exactly a civ3 problem, but I can't get to the demogame chatroom. I'm assuming this is a problem with a port, or something. I'm running windows xp. I'm not really sure how to figure out where the problem is, or fix it. Any advice?

Server: irc.irc-chat.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #turnchat

Make sure when you connect (ie; type /server irc.irc-chat.net:6667 to connect), type /join #turnchat to join.

PS: This could've gone in the demogame / computer talk forums.

Sorry, I was unclear. I can't connect to the server.
Is this the wrong place enough that I should have the thread closed and ask elsewhere?

It says:
"welcome to civfanatics java chat room!
connecting to irc.irc-chat.net 6667......
unable to connect to server.
connecting to dreaming.ca.us.irc-chat.net 6667......
unable to connect to server"
etc.

I've had to have windows xp stop blocking internet stuff in the past, but every time a little window popped up to ask me. No such window this time.

Go to www.mirc.com and download mirc. You can use that. It's much better than CFC's java client, too. Also, you can use the chatroom at www.irc-chat.net. It's the IRC server's java chat (a better one).

Hooray! Success! Many thanks to Ginger Ale and Chieftess.

@GA:

see in the post above:

"welcome to civfanatics java chat room!"

So CT was right :p

She also does know more java than me, so I wont do more than a guess that 1) your browser or connection could have had problems using java or 2) your computer was not configured to allow access on the ports using your browser.
