You all make me sick
You talk about deity and sid level and I can't get past chieftain. I tried once to play warlord and #%#$%#$^$#%^#$^%#$%#$^#$^%%$^%$^%#$^#$%^$

You talk about 55.000 score and the highest I got was 900

YOU ALL RUINED MY LIFE

UFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Maybe a 3rd option ??? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP:crazyeye:

Sorry to make you sick, maybe you should try starcraft or age of mythoilogy instead,,, ROFL. They have no micromanagement at all.

(just kidding)

Did you read the instructions ?

Welcome to CFC :)

Check out the War Academy and read through some Beginner articles there - they really do help you a lot!

Or, check out the Succession Games Forum for any TDGs (Training Day Games). You'll definitely learn a lot!

Just remember to expand quickly in the beginning, and dont leave your cities undefended for long!
Good luck! :D

Don't know anything about TDGs, but my main source for learning the game was the Quick Answers thread. You may have to skim over quite a bit of technical discussions and version to version questions, but usually someone has asked a particular gameplaying question you might have had and it will have been answered. If you have a question as you are playing, the Quick Answers thread is a good place to ask it because many here are excellent at giving a good answer quickly.
btw
-One of my main and important early mistakes was trying to produce a worker or settler when the city wasn't growing (ie you have the shields but not the population to spare). Before one can expand, one needs to know how to get some growth. If you don't already have this figured out, concentrate on learning how city growth works.
-Welcome to CFC

Another thing that slowed me down when I first started was messing around with colonies. I'd waste a worker to have a colony on luxury or resouce and too soon the enemy would negate my colony by simply expanding their borders (cultural expansion) over it. Terribly frustrating. IMO colonies are only useful in very special circumstances, so I recommend not experimenting with them initially because usually they are a waste of time and resources.

Thanks guys

Berrern and wxwindmill my heros :)

Maestro of Buttspanking needs some spanking himself har har har har har

Conan.. you've been very helpful ( just kidding )

Hey girl, like was mentioned read the war academy and strategy tips, that's what we all had to do to get better, and if you have any questions just ask here. :)

Actually, naughty girl... I dont think I was very helpful. However, I can try again.

When u play, dont be like me.. dont play too fast. Take your time and plan ahead. Read about the different buildings and units in the civiliopedia whenever u encounter something new.

Especially learn about the leaders, how they appear and how they form armies. They are invaluable. Once u start knowing how to wage war, you will surely beat the easier levels easily.

one more thing... when u build the first 4-5 cities, be careful and never build settlers when u have less than 2 people in your city. It is wasted.. make sure your settler is finished the same turn as the city pops up to 3 inhabitants. Do this, find a nice spot for the next city and then plan on the next city. WORKERS are a must.. at least have 1 for each city . should be enough for easier levels.. u need a lot more for tougher levels, but u should take your time so you dont get discouraged :)

Happy hunting, kick ass and chew bubblegum...

i do need a good buttspanking, since ive been a naughty boy and all,it takes a naughty girl to know a naughty boy ;)

however for help on civ3 u might wanna browse these forums, theres a war academy,a strategy and tips section of the forums, countless articles etc etc

for war tips check this out:

This forum is probably the best Civ resource I have ever found. It beats the manual hands down. SOme of the finest Civ talents in the world visit, and discuss with the rest of us. The developers from Firaxis (and Breakaway Games) browse here often, as well as the Marketing guy for the publisher (you've got to know your customer base ;) ).

I would suggest what has already been suggested: visit the War Academy, as well as the rest ofStrategy & Tips forum. Pay special attention to cracker's Improving Your Opening Play article, as well as Bamspeedy's Babylonian Diety Settlers. Also check out the Succession Games forum. If there aren't any Training Day Games open, browse through some of the previous ones, and follow the current ones. Also read through any games whose names start with "RBx". They are normally Emperor or higher level games, but you can learn a lot from the Realms Beyond crowd. :)

The "Quick Answers" thread isn't meant as any kind of repository of knowledge, but rather is a place where you can come and ask pretty much any Civ-related question you have, without worrying about looking like a newbie, or whether the question has been asked before. The FAQ thread (also stickied near the top of this forum) is another valuable resource.

The civ3 manual misses the explanation of a lot of "hidden'' rules,
which are very important in the game, such as reputation and
corruption. Not to mention with the two expansion sets and
the patches where the rules change with every new patch
it's hard to master the game and so to develop your own
style of playing that leads to victory.

This forum has a lot of useful info on the game, which is not
mentioned in the manual. The easiest way is to start asking questions in the related forums.

A game is about winning not getting the highest score.

If you can tell us how you play, we may be able to help you more. Also, try warlord again. I remember my first time, the ai was light years ahead of me. Later, when I came back, it was easier.

Perhaps turn based strategy isn't the right game for you.
I don't like real time strategy for instance.

But you can learn increadebly much in this game. Be greedy and snatch as much territorry as you can: Build many millitary units and beat the AI up. Don't have any scrouples, it's only a game and somewhere it's ok to get you bad sides out :D

No matter what score u get, I still love ya...

If u want, I can help you with some strategies (in bed) heehee

Oh hahaha, you must pick up a ton of ladies with wit like that.

Seeing as your name involves the word "girl" I'm sure you'll be swarmed with PMs asking if you need any help. Don't let the kiddies chase you off, we're mostly a friendly bunch.;)

It's been said, but the key is micromanagment. Getting the most out of your city tiles as soon as possible is the key. Some quick tips I use:

- Pick a Civ that starts with Alphabet. Research Writing first at 20% science (it won't matter if you increase it, it will still take 50 turns) and then kick it back up to 100% and go on to Philosophy to try to get the bonus tech.

- Trade your techs as soon as you discover them. The more AI you know, the better. Only withhold tech if you aren't getting anything good in return. Pretty soon (middle ages) the AI will start forking over tons of GPT.

- During despotism, only irrigate plains (brownish flat land), desert if you are an agricultural Civ, and flood plains. Mine grassland, particularly shielded grassland. Don't bother with hills or mountains yet.

- Building cities near rivers helps with commerce and and science.

- Don't ignore your infrustructure at the expense of expansion. I recently played a regent game after months of being at demi-god and was suprised at how (relatively) slow the AI expands. If you keep creating settlers, you won't be able to build temples, libraries, marketplaces, etc.

Even on Deity (where techs are very expensive) you can get Writing in under 50 turns on a standard size map. You just won't see it drop from the maximum research time until turn 20 or so, when your GPT is high enough to count.

Against an AI you can (nearly) always get Phil first by doing 50 turn Writing then Phil at max, but against a human who also starts with Alpha you better go max on Writing too. ;)

I remember in an early game that I was so happy because I had finally gotten knights and I was beginning to expand against my neighbor Egypt, when all of a sudden a battleship, aircraft carrier and transport full of marines landed and started bombing the &%$# out of me. What a surprise.
Anyway, I didn't know about these forums, so I just started replaying the same map over and over. It didn't take more than a few games until I was winning. It's a bit like practicing scales on a piano ... somewhat boring at times, but it really helps.

 Keep the Faith. (oh! and keeping a notebook helps.)
