just a thought (I probably won't have time to look through the logs today):
did you ever clear the game cache? it is saved in one of the my documents folders and won't be deleted by uninstalling.
try starting the game while holding down the shift key - then start the mod...
My hunch is that there is some changed file somewhere that causes this - a mod like FfH which basically exchanges all files (or most of them) likely uses its own version of it...
