MLDR01 - Ga'day Gov'na

300 AD (0): Confused by the granary in Hamburg I change to a marketplace. Hamburg has no excess food and no duct. Change Barcelona granary to a courthouse.

310 AD (1): The Spanish are leaving for now. Chicago builds a library, starts a MI. San Fran builds a settler starts a library. Upgrade a couple more spears to pike, form up a stack of swords to head north now that the spanish are leaving. Drop lux to 20% and the only city effected is Barcelona. Income jumps to 68gpt. France and India now each have invention. Research on Chivalry was off but cuts our income way down if it is put back on but want to get knights to make good use of those horses, research to 30%, due in 15 turns. Suffling unit to get the spears upgraded before war on Spain. Settler our of SanFran is heading north and will pick up a pike along the way.

320 AD (2): Iroquios declared on India. New York builds a library starts a baracks. Heidelburg builds a temple starts pike. Change Murcia to MI. Upgrade a couple more spears and a sword. Change Nuremberg to MI. France and India now have invention.

330 AD (3): Leipzig builds a market starts MI. Atlanta builds a library starts a duct.

340 AD (4): Berlin builds Market starts MI. Boston a granary starts libary. Frankfurt a worker starts a cat. Spain has picked up Engineering but still lacks Feudalism a few more MI are due in 2 more turns and will begin sending the Swords to the north and the Horses in from the West before Spain gets pikes.

350 AD (5): Barcelona builds a courthouse starts a market. Nuremberg builds a MI, starts cat.

360 AD (6): Hamburg builds a market starts a pike. Continue to move units to the spanish front.

370 AD (7): New York builds a baracks starts a pike. Surprised to see Atlanta riot with governors on guess the gov' likes to :smoke:. Murcia builds MI starts pike. Forming up a stack of Swords outside of Leipzig, horses are in Barcelona and Heidelberg awaiting Chivalry.

380 AD (8): Barcelona builds a barracks starts a MI. Heidelberg builds pike starts another, Berlin a MI starts another. We are still 4 turns from Chivalry and I see a good 20+ units in our general vacinity. I am inclinded to wait the 4 turns then strike.

390 AD (9): Washington builds marketplace starts library. Phily market, starts duct. Atlanta riots again. France has picked up Chivalry as has India. We get Knights in 2 turns.

400 AD (10): Boston builds a library starts on a Market. Horses are ready for Upgrade in Barcelona and Berlin.

Spain just got Feudalism and I think I blew our chance to hit before they got pikes. I just wasn't confortable with the numbers of swords she kept sending our way. They have 2 sources of iron hooked up and both are easily disconnected as well as a horsey.

Preturn: Sell Ragnar our WM for WM and 43 gold. Cement some peace with France, they pay 60 gold. Get America to remove their troops from our lands. Spain, they have units all over the place, I want to go to war with them so first I'll ask them to remove their forces, nope they declare war. I make as many reasonable attacks that I can, protect as many workers as possible and move units from the rear up toward the fronts (keeping cities protected of course).

410AD 1. We get Chivalry, so I now turn off research cause both paths are already known by other civs and it will be cheaper to buy that research in 15 turns. We do lose a few workers to Spain and they do win a couple of battles against us but generally they are on the way home to help protect their homelands. Upgrade 5 horsemen to knights for 400. Pillage some Spanish iron.

420AD 2. We take Valencia. That leaves Spain with only one source of iron. Move units to the front.

430AD 3. Getting more troops into position to stomp the Spaniards. Pike from galley moves onto the last iron hooked up for Spain. Just notice that we have a number of temples being built in small cities, culture is great but we are scientific so switch them to libraries.

440AD 4. Pillage last Spanish iron! They are already, ready to talk to us and I confirm their no iron situation. Seville falls easily, we have now taken their horses.

450AD 5. Advance to Madrid and take out 2 Pike defenders. Still spear left.

460AD 6. Madrid falls to us and produces the Great leader Richtoffen who rushes Sun Tzu right at Madrid. Zaragosa also falls.

470AD 7. Sun Tsu built. Vitoria falls. Pamplona falls. Santiago falls. Detroit falls.

480AD 8. Mostly just troop movements.

490AD 9. Palace extension. Toledo falls and we get the Great Lighthouse. :)

500AD 10. Ruffing up a few more towns.

Should be able to take the capitol next turn.

Good Luck.

Well done CB! :goodjob: The leader is a bonus. I was pretty sure you would be able to go to war soon after Chivalry came in and take the iron and horses easily but all those cities too :D.

Hotrod

Great job as usual CB. I noticed in RBP7 that you got Gov'na fever! At least they are ggod for somethings in a regular game!

540 : We found Stuttgart.

ibt : sheesh we lose Atlanta to the Americans on a culture flip ! And they only had one city...Shoulda known Atlanta was a trouble spot....

550 : we capture Jaen, Spain down to one city. India and France are up Theo and Invention, will wait a while...

560: Moving troops towards America, they have to pay for this insult of flipping one of our cities !

570 : We capture Salamanca and the Spanish are no more.

CB-MLDR01.jpg

CB3-MLDR01.jpg

600 : forces are regrouping around Washington and Philadelphia, galleys being built , :)

We need to choose our strategy now for the rest of the game.

Finishing off the Spanish and the Americans. Great!

We seem to have set a warmonger's tone here, are we going for conquest or domination? Or do we want to shot for something else.

Who is the next target? Sounds like France and India need trimming? Thoughts?

India big time, started some galleys as well :)

I'd go for domination here...but then when 'don't I ? :D

600 AD (Pre-turn)
I pay the French 743g for Invention. Strange but they won't even take 170gpt for gunpowder! When did our rep get trashed? I don't recall reading anything that would be that bad. Did we begin a war with Spain or America the correct way? The reason I bought Invention was to get gunpowder for free from the Indians

610 AD (1)
Negotiations with India break down and things turn ugly. They refuse to help our tech sector and war is declared. The settler/spear pair is attacked by two elite swords, one of whom we lose. We now have two more workers building trade routes. Units advance on Indus which is guarded by a spear. Valencia is swapped from a worker to a settler and rushed as Indus will most likely auto-raze and we want to replace it to get the furs. Swap New York and Phillie to galleys, due in one, and rush the galley at Buffalo for 40g. The goodie hut on the island gets us three mad barbs.
(I) Berlin completes a library and starts a Cathedral. The galleys complete and more are started. One barb dies on our pike.

620 AD (2)
An elite knight takes the first spear at Indus without a scratch. More units arrive. 6 knights are loaded into the new galleys and 2 more are coming.
(I) Nothing but building.

630 AD (3)
We take Indus and move in.
(I)

640 AD (4)
Loading another knight.
(I) The Zulu want us to leave, I ask for an RoP, it seems they know what we did to America! I would assume then that our last declaration of war against them was dastardly.

650 AD (5) continued
The march to Dacca and the silks continues. It might be faster by ship. We now have 5 loaded galleys and need one with pikes to go with it.
(I) An Indian longbow appears out of the fog.

660 AD (6)
No more Indian longbow. We now have a galley with one pike and the second will load next turn.
(I) The trouble spot of Atlanta riots.

670 AD (7)
The second pike loads and the fleet is gathered. It heads for India proper next turn. Unfortunately, I won't be at hand to guide its assualt of those vile shores. Production in Atlanta is swapped to a temple. Purchase Education from Joan for 723g. We are still down gunpowder, banking and astronomy at least.
(I) Not much.

680 AD (8)
Lots of movement.
(I) The French begin Magellans.

690 AD (9)
France will now take a teo for one deal on luxes with 210g kicked in. I take it to try and repair our rep some.
(I)

700 AD (10)
Still lots of movement. The fleet is about 3 turns from the Indian coast. The land troops are 1 turn out of Dacca. There is a settler right beside Valladolid.

If you do not understand the standard methods of keeping a reputation intact, please take some time it read up on it. It limits a lot of our choices now that we have a rep to repair. I did check into starting our own research and we could get gunpowder in 7 at our max sustainable rate. It would be cheaper to save the money and buy it from France. We should be able to get at least two techs from India, if not three, depending on how much hurt we can put on their core cities. The next target should then be France if we plan on pulling ToE for ourselves.

Saved Game

Hotrod gets to take it to the Indians and CB might get to polish them off. We might have a short war with the Iroquois just to clean up things on our own landmass.

It wasn't Spain that was the problem. It appears the problem was with America. Either our peace treaty wasn't finished or we had a deal with them when we attacked.

It is done and nothing can change it. We just need to work at getting the rep back to where it should be or we will be paying cash for everything from here on out.

We certainly can forget the diplo victory for now. :D

I am 90% sure we had no deal when I attacked America, I still have some save file so I will check...
