Mod crashes

I've been trying to merge the Orion's Inquisition mod with Fictionalization IV, but when I try to load it, the game crashes with no warning. It crashes right after the buildings, so I have a feeling about what it might be. Here's the XML that I changed:

If there is a syntax error then you probably should post the traceback, because that would pinpoint what exactly is awry. Why would anyone bother with checking some code you copy-pasted when you can just have the game's Python interpreter do the work?

Firstly you enable Python exceptions/logging in the CivilizationIV.ini file located at \Documents\Games\Beyond the Sword\

Then, once you've unsuccessfully launched the mod, you find any exceptions in \Documents\Games\Beyond the Sword\Logs\PythonErr.log (and possibly PythonErr2.log).
 
I actually think those pop-ups have to be enabled (or not disabled) separately, but I never touch my settings myself...

Did you check PythonErr2.log also? (I dunno if that one appears on everyone's machine. Maybe Jeeves can look that up?)

I'm not an expert on the error log in question, but it looks fine to me. :dunno:

But lets clarify one thing: Are you trying to merge Beyond the Sword mod-comps using only the Warlords expansion pack? Because that will never fly. Ever.

Further; are you absolutely certain you're running the most up-to-date patch for BtS?
 
I simply installed Beyond the Sword after installing vanilla CIV, so I can't play Warlords. My assumption that the game at that point was loading the python files from Warlords before the BtS ones. And yes, I am using BtS 3.19.
 
Jeeves can indeed confirm that my PythonErr2.log looks just like yours. :rolleyes: Never mind then.
 
I finally managed to merge FicIV with OIM, but when I put an Inquisitor on the map while I have a state religion, I get this message:

Firstly, you can find the exception in the Python Error Log, so there is no need to capture it as a screen caption. Secondly, there are likely numerous identical error messages on-top of each-other, so clicking OK only seems to not do anything. But if you close them all you should be able get rid of them.

But, we still need to fix the error. Attach the OIM module or give us the whole getReligionInquisitor() function/method. Something is being overlooked in that code, or the would-be programmer who wrote it didn't bother having Python exceptions enabled... :p
