[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

May I ask you two things? what are your special changes to both cooperation and espionage? Are you going to replace cooperations to guilds to make it sound more medieval?

I dont know, we have to make that version yet. First we will convert everything to BtS, then we will start working on "Shadow" and start using the new mechanics.

I downloaded the update 1.74 for Civ IV...when I go to run FFH2.23 I get:

This application has failed to start because D3DX9_32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any ideas on what happened???

+...even Civ IV pops that error...dang...

nah...even basic Civ Iv gives that error as soon as it tries to start up....ideas on how to fix??...download latest version of DirectX??...rats...everything was fine until that patch...

O updated my post with a link to the thread about it, it does mean you need a DirectX patch.

updated to the DirectX 9.0c...restarted...same error...double dang,,.

Update: It seems the Microsoft DirectX 9.0c update wasn't working properly...the first 2 or 3 times i ran it, it went right to "Finished"...without actually running/installing!...on about the 4th try it actually ran and installed everything...game seems fine now.

After 'BtS line' patches for vanilla and Warlords use the new DX, hence the problem.

Hey Kael & Crew.

I've got a simple Question:
Can you make your installers detect, where Civ4 is installed?
I always have to re-think if its the Civ4 folder or the civ4/mods folder that I have to point out. I suppose you will have fewer questions about your mod not running, too.
Would be great.

hey Kael and the krew!
just wanted to thank you guys for this Fraking incredible game! havent gotten more than 4 hours sleep each night this last week cause i cant stop playing FFH2!
thanks!

Hello Kael,

This is an amazing mod...
I have a question: I just finished a game and at the end I was attacked by surprise by Varn Gosam (Good) without any (?) reason. During all the game I (neutral) was very kind with Varn and gave him a lot of techs. It seems that he was allied with evils civs? Is it possible ? I thought Good could not attack me like a traitor...

;)

PS : I have a second question, is it possible for a neutral to become Good? I see it's possible to become Evil but I didn't see how to become Good...

Were you finishing the alter of the Lunictor or the tower of mastery? If you were nearly all the AIs will attack you.

Anyone becomes good if they convert to the Order.
Anyone becomes evil if they convert to AV
Evil becomes neutral if they convert to Runes of Kilimorf
Good becomes neutral if they convert to OO
Nothing happens if you convert to Fellowship of the Leaves.

:thanx: I think this was the reason (the tower of mastery) and I choose the Fellowship of the Leaves... :thanx:

Yeah, the AI will gang up on players about to win with either an Altar or Mastery victory. But outside of that it is possible for even good AI players to surprise attack you. They are definitly less likely to do so (the Elohim are the least likely of all) but it does happen from time to time.

I'd like to raise the topic of optional barbarian villages or other changes to them again (see one page back). Would it be possible to make such changes as have been suggested?

It would be great to have a write up about where and how the media pack updates previous versions. This would help one confirm that it was installed correctly.

I haven't been able to play a ton, but I'm not hearing any new music yet. I generally play (before and after .23) a lot of vampires with OO, and it's been sounding the same. I reinstalled the media pack just to make sure.

Were there fundamental changes (main screen soundtrack, early game music, etc.)? I *have* seen a movie for the Form of the Titan, so at least some of the media was updated.

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm playing Capria/Bannor/Order right now. I also reinstalled to be sure. No change in the music as far as I can tell.

Just a reminder. I know I've probably said this before and countless others have as well but Kael, you and the rest of the modders are gods.

Only reason I participate registered to this site, only reason I play Civ 4, and the only reason I went out and bought Civ 4 after pirating it.

Best way to tell that you have it is if a movie plays when you start a game. If you just get a single slide that says "The Age of Ice has ended..." then you don't have the media pack installed. If you see a full movie when you start a game then you are all set.

Hmm... I get a *series* of slides that start with "The Age of Ice has ended..." When you say "movie" to you mean a fancy-shmancy animated wow-em movie, or a slideshow?

I'm only asking because I'm really impressed with this mod (FFH2er since the thread was only 30-somethin' pages!), and I want to get the most out of it.

Besides clarifying the intro movie, any other "you've definitely got it installed" checkpoints?
