I encountered a minor problem with one of the events in "j" FfH... One that I find kind of amusing.

The Guild of Nine came to a city offerring the services of a pirate crew (I really like the new units that you can buy from the GoN -- much better than before!!!). Looking forward to possibly getting a boarding crew, I accepted the offer. Well... One of the units I received was a privateer. This would be GREAT IF the city was actually on the coast. Unfortunatetly it is an inland city and I can't do anything with the privateer (doesn't appear as if I can send him through the obsidian gate).

If there is any way to correct this, you might want to. Not a big deal and, as I said before, I thought it was kind of funny.

There is a check to make sure the city is attached to water that is at least 10 tiles large. You must have just met the minimum.

You must have really ruled that lake!

Ok I checked in a new game, the Calabrim definitly (still?) get the event with the Calabrim refugees, even if you are the only Calabrim civ on the map.

edit 1: I forgot, it is also possible to upgrade lvl1 Morois (instead of lvl 4) to vampires, if this is a design choice the civpedia needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Another thing I noticed is that it is possible to spread any religion actively, via disciple unit, even though Theocracy is enabled. In the civics window it says "no non state religion spread". Additionally the 1 unhappy/non state religion was removed, so you really want multiple religions in your cities if you have a Theocracy/religion combination together with the shrine of L +3 and above. When I switched from the Vanilla version of FFH2 I was hoping that having multiple religions, especially good and evil ones in one city would get you penalized in some way. Even if the design choice is not to flat out a negative bonus, perhaps some events could occur like massive religious uprisings, cult fighting vs. order and such, hurting your economy and growth so youd like to keep your cities as pure as possible, while trying to spread your religion to other civs. Or let me ask it in an other way, what real benefit does having just one religion give at the moment?

edit 2: ok I just had the event that the veil citicens want to burn down the order temple, pretty much what I described above and it's already implemented. Well I really should check the events file to see all events prior to posting here, but I don't want to spoil the fun for me. Perhaps the frequency for this event should be considerably upped still, the effects are great as they are!

edit 3: I get a reproduceable CTD in the endgame when a frigate (me playing the Calabrim) attacks a privateer (Hippus with hidden nationality). After reloading it works but then after a couple of turns the next privateer that shows up causes a new CTD. Could be memory related.

edit 4: I guess this has been reported but Loki's ability to avoid combat seems to be borked, at least vs. hidden nationality units, whenever a civ, to whom i send Loki to, finishes "potn" he gets killed by one of the illustrious hill giants within the next turns. As there are only three I doubt the had him surrounded. Again if this is wanted the pedia needs to be fixed as he is very easily to kill then. (You could set his <iWithdrawalProb> to 100 and he will always flee from combat heavily wounded, but i am not sure if he becomes unkillable then (testing it atm. but the AI sucked at cornering him anyway so this is prolly most important for multiplayer games), aka if he is killed when he has no plot left to run to, or alternatively you could make him immortal, so he gets killed but respawns at the Balseraph capital to cause more mischiev soon, a very elegant method imo "I'll be back!")

edit 5: You can make an order temple in the veil holy city, by confessor.

I checked again and the city was one tile away from being on the water. Is that close enough to merit "being on the water" (it couldn't build a lighthouse or harbor).

One thing that I miss from the normal Civ4 BTS game is the "Glance" screen where you can easily see had good (or bad) your relations are with our civilizations. Are there plans to add this form back to FfH? While I can add up all the points, it sure is easier just to "glance" at that form...

Thanks.

Just wondering... Was something done that the opportunity to get forges early was removed? This is the second straight game where I wasn't asked if I wanted to buy a forge and its assorted improvements. Before "j" I got this event almost every game -- and it was a GREAT option for the capital that early in the game!!!! My last game I thought it might be because I was the Luchirp, but this time around I'm the Hippus and I still didn't get the event.

Have I just been unlucky or is the forge event no longer in the game?

Thanks.

It's still there (though the frequency seems to have been toned down, thankfully). The Khazad do have to be in the game for the event to occur.

Hi, are the "out of sync" errors still being worked on? A friend and I were just playing a game with .30j via direct connect over the internet, he got disconnected, then when he reconnected we had an out of sync error.

We've seen that a lot on LAN games with earlier versions of the .30 series too. We're big fans so we really want to see it working right. :(

Thanks Kinjiru!!! If that's the case, then that is likely my problem -- I don't think that the Khazad were in either of the games. I am curious, however, why are you thankful that the frequency has been toned down? I thought it was a great event...

Re. my previous question of the proper acknowledgments required for any units borrowed from FFH, should I also credit anything lifted from FFH: Age of Ice to the team, or is the art in this scenario a part of the original game?

Oh I agree it is a great event. The first game I played with it though, my capital got the event 8 times in the first 40 or so turns. While the boost was nice, it was rather game-breaking!

On a related note, under patch j, I got the "Burn the Witch" event 5 times in fairly quick succession. Not as game-altering as a free forge and +6 hammers to that forge, but still, I had like 55 turns of +1 happy from the event.

Interesting events :goodjob:

Too frequent firing of said events :badjob:

I had the same experience with "Burn the Witch". I figured that one of the two options (I took both on different cities) would lead to some related event, but I never saw anything come up relating to the burning (or non-burning).

On the "forges" note, I'm fairly certain that in previous releases the forge event would come up without the Khazad being in the game because I thought it was funny that a Khazad master smith would give me a forge with the Khazad supposedly didn't exist. The same thing has happened with the mages going for training (I believe with the Malakim). Of course, at my age my memory might not be serving me too well...
