[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Okay Ive tried loading up this mod on to BtS AND the vanilla one too .23 or whatever. And BOTH times whenever the mod is installed it will give me a boot right off the initial loading screen. The crash to desktop, send error report dont send screen.
Ori has tried to help and i cant find any other theory, eveyrthing leads me to this mod because they run fine with other ones and by themselves. Just not this one.
Please any and all help will be great. ASAP would be great too! thanks eveyrone!
great mod, ive been playing FFH 1 for Civ IV haha getting my dose

EDIT!

okay i dont wanna confuse myself with editing the whole post so heres an update:
I got the Vanilla version working....now as far i remember ( since i did at 1:30am a little drunk at the time) i think i deleted the folder in the mods thing......I THINK, since last night thats all i keep thinking about is how i just deleted something.
I started up the game, advanced options, choose mod and there i go, game worked.
Now i still havent been able to do the BtS one, i dont wanna atempt it since i cant remember exactly what i did, but any imput on the scrambled mess ive giving eveyrone here would be great! haha thanks.

I'm sure this has been asked, but just what needs to be downloaded, for the current BtS version?
I've been switched to the game flood site, but I'm not sure I've got the right files.

Could someone tell me the names of the files, & the just how/where to do the install.

Thanks
Fader

Yea i have the latest patch, everything was re-installed, freshly patched and tried again. But it didn't work...i dunno whats going on here.
Well Heres some more questions i wanna ask:

Is there any way to get more civs in the vanilla version??? I'm loving it so far and i want to be able to play as more characters etc. Its big enough already i know but haha i want more. anyways thats my latest edit/question to my inital ones.

Call me curious... In my latest game I decided to select the Empyrean religion as my state religion (rather than the Order that I normally elect for, but I wanted to play a little differently). Since I had established the religion, built the religious hero, and actually got a great prophet, I built constructed the religious wonder (Deis something or another...). I decided that given that I had two votes rather than just one for the Overcouncil (again, I had the religious hero that provides an extra vote!) and I had a vassal (Cardith Lorda) that SHOULD vote with me, I could dominate the vote and keep them from outlawing the "bad" mana.

Well... "Were ifs and buts only candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas." I hadn't counted on good old Varn Gosam, I hadn't counted on Lorda building Basium, and when the Overcouncil vote appeared (I hadn't immediately adopted it!), lo and behold they had ALREADY outlawed Shadow and Entropy mana (teach me to wait!). When I tried to overturn the vote, Lorda, Basium, and Gosam voted as a block and beat my two votes. So... I quite the Overcouncil as soon as I could (I typically win with the Tower of Mastery and outlawing the manas presented a slight problem).

Well... Basium, being Basium, declared war on the only "evil" civ in the game later (poor Mahala!). Basium a teammate of my vassal I was forced to automatically declare war also. I immediately went to the Crusade civic and performed the Bannor's world spell giving me a demagog in every city and for every improvement (a REALLY NEAT spell I must say!!!). However, once I started the Tower of Mastery, I rejoined the Overcouncil since I really didn't neat the "bad" manas any longer. Much to my surprise they had adopted Liberty during my absence -- causing all my demagogs to immediately abandon me. SO... not liking the result, I backed up a couple of turns to before I rejoined the council (OK -- so I do cheat a little!! After all, I was at war).

Much to my surprise, three turns later a vote came up for the head of the council and my name was on the list. Given that I had two vassals, I won the vote. Then, a couple of turns later, I was given the opportunity to select the option on which to vote. I'm not sure if I actually get to vote since no resulting voting screen ever came up, but this might be because I selected the "Declare War on Mahala" and everyone was already at war with him (poor guy!!! Though, given I was playing Hemispheres, it appears as if I'm the only one actually fighting...).

After that pretty long build up, here's my question: Since I wasn't really a member of the council, WHY was I given the option of leading it? Was this because I owned the religious wonder? Was it because I had built the religious hero that gives me an extra vote in the council? Was it because I had a vassal that belonged to it? Or, is there some other reason I was given the ability to lead the council when I didn't belong to it?

Thanks for any answer that can be provided.

Yep. Controlling the wonder that founds the Council makes you automatically eligible, as far as I know.

Stupid question, probably...

I just bought the Beyond the Sword Add-on and installed the latest FFH2 v.030 patch + patch "h" + Media v.030. (I installed it in this order)

When I start the game I can only play a scenario called "Age of Ice". The button "Play now" is not activated. I can't prepare myself a nice custom game on a map with the size of my choice and all the other stuff.

I doubt this is intentional. Probably I just did something stupid. I would appreciate your help. I have been looking forward to get my fingers on that Add-on all day. ;)

Thanks, Gnulli

Found the problem - hopefully.

The installer chose the directory "C:/program files/..." instead of "C:/programme/..."

So, forget this post. :)

Fall from Heaven II wont show up as a scenario (as Age of Ice does). It has to be loaded as a Mod, look in the Advanced -> Load a Mod menu.

Gnulli, you probably did this and just didn't comment on it, but be sure you also have installed the 3.13 patch for BtS.

FfH II is not a scenario, just a mod, while FfH: AoI is a scenario that relies on a (much simpler) mod. When a scenario relies on a mod, it will load that mod before loading the scenario. The AoI mod has several things hardcoded into the map, so it will only work with the AoI Scenario; FfH II isn't hard coded like that, and doesn't rely on any scenario. It doesn't currently have any scenarios made for it (although there are several FfH compatible maps that people have made on their own and like to play with it), but it will; the next phase of FfH, Ice, will consist of little more than scenarios that rely on a finalized version of the current Shadow phase.

This is probably a "duh" question, but I'll ask it anyway...

I'm playing the Grigori (after swearing that I'd never play them again given that they cannot build disciple units!!!) and I find that there world spell is resetting the great person counter. OK. This is my question: Why is this a good thing? I would have thought that resetting the counter (to "0"?) was actually a bad idea...

Also, a second question. I've noticed that the "traffic" on this thread is getting lower. Are there better places to ask questions than this one?

Thanks.

Okay.

Circle of Gaelan

I set the weight in the XML to 10000 to make sure it would happen (all three events). then, whiloe in game, i got the first event, and selected the second choice (let the student continue) there was never any continuation.

what do i need to do to have the circle of Gaelan?

I suspect you are thinking that the spell resets your accumulated great people points (GPP). It doesn't. It just resets the variable storing how many GPs you have made.

Since each GP costs more than the previous one (in GPP), the Grigori world spell means that they can get a bunch more GPs much more quickly.

So, if your first GP costs you 200 GPP, and the second one costs 300, then the fourth might cost 500 and the fifth one 800. As the Grigori, lets say that you cast your spell after making your fourth GP. Instead of needing to generate another 800 GPP before getting another GP, you'll now get your fifth great person after accumulating just 200 GPP.

Finally a friend borrowed me bts and I was able to try out the according version of ffh. Great improvement overall, I love it, and here is my first feedback.

- the LJOSALFAR civ (still) has the green color for its civ influence/borders. As practically all their improvements are beyond forest or jungle it makes the borders very hard to see, and their build improvements.

- something else that bugged me with the LJOSALFAR. Now they can build a cottage on a jungle tile and when Genesis fires, the tiles with the jungle/cottage combination (i presume the same for mines and other stuff) do not get upgraded to forest tiles properly.

- even on epic speed the research rate is way to fast for my taste, with only a couple of cities that arent even fully improved yet I can research pretty much anything within a few turns, fewer turns that it would take to build a single building. I know this is a matter of taste but I prefer a slower advancing tech tree (I know how to adjust that, just giving feedback)

- In my first game I founded the UN thingie, opposite of council of esus, sorry forgot the name already :p , and the vote intervall is very fast on epic speed. I did not count but since I founded it there can't be more than 100 turns and i have already passed any vote but one, furthermore, although I gave my ally the "religion" of that good council he never took part in the voting, it was pretty much a 1 vote/passed thingie. by the time other civs perhaps take part in this there aren't any things left to vote for I presume. (<--- I forgot: In the vote it says "UN resolution" instead of a cool fantasy name for the whole thing, perhaps a game limitation but I just let you know)

- Last but not least, the music, a great part of the games music is still from the original civ version according to the time period (classical age, renaissance etc.) and a lot of the great music from the mod isn't ever used. I am not sure if this is because the media pack is optional but if I must hear "power to the people" one more time I am going to throw my pc out of the window (I fixed that the noob method by replacing the sound files instead of fixing the reference in the xml files but I am not sure if you guys really included all the cool music just for it never to be played)

And to all the people who report game errors and missing dlls and whatnot, its 's definitly not the mod guys, everything wen't fine for me, all you need to do really is check the paths, get the bts patch and everything should work.

Okay I am off to enjoy more of my favourite civ mod and tweak all the things mentioned above in my favor :) . Sorry for all the typos!

Thanks Kinjiru!!!!! That is such a NEAT spell... As soon as I reset the great person counter I immediately received NINE (!!!!) great people and FOUR (!!!!) adventurers. Thanks for the advice.

Just played the FFH content that came with BTS. I was nothing short of awestruck.
Anywho I simply decided I *must* download the FFH mod now, found it and downloaded. My one question is should I download the patch, or if I just downloaded the mod is it already updated?

Thanks Kael and your team....you guys are truly inspiring.
