[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

What is the status of the Scenarios in FFH?
As of patch D, a number of the scenarios just crash to desktop when they start.
Is that a known problem or something perhaps unique to me where I need to try some crazy/unfortunate re-install the who mod thing to try to fix.

PS Anyone else notice that civfanatics.com homepage crashes Firefox 3?

It happened in my current game.

EDIT: The FfH folder has a file named GlolbalDefinesAlt.xml and has no reference for GLOBAL_WARMING_PROB. The BtS folder has a file named GlobalDefines.xml with GLOBAL_WARMING_PROB. I changed the value from 20 to 0. Considering I know nothing about programming, I hope that was the correct thing to do.

Scenarios crashing is unfortunately now a common problem. Most people can, however, load them directly from the worldbuilder save even though many cannot be loaded from the 'scenarios' screen.

Best wishes,

Are you sure it's global warming? I mean are you getting the weird music and the text that says "Global warming has struck city X"?

The reason I ask is that I think that one of the constellation events can turn some tiles into desert, so maybe it's that?

I did get the Global Warming message. Nothing showed up in the event log though. I'm playing on an arid Erebus map so it is almost impossible to pinpoint which tile went to desert terrain. Also, if you look at the code, global warming is triggered in part I think by the decreasing amount of forest on the map. There are only a couple tiles left with Ancient Forest. That makes me think it actually did happen. I'm going to go back a number of saves and see if I can replicate it. If global warming has been disabled, I sure would like to know in which file.

More Problems!!! I am unable to download the main file for FFH2, as it tells me about two thirds of the way through that it can't get the info from the server. this has happened to me three times now.

you can try the link in my signature, I uploaded the latest main file on rapidshare, just install the latest patch afterwards, just follow the instructions

So I have to ask, with Elemental : War of Magic nearing the first beta and Stardock stating it will be incredibly easy and open to modding, will the FoF team consider creating a mod for it or allow others to do so? The FoF universe is incredibly interesting and I love the game to death.

I don't know if Elemental would be condusive to FfH style though.

Honestly with this+ Majesty 2 coming this week, my Civ time will decline, even at work.

Hello,

I am reinstalling. I downloaded version 0.40, the then-current patch, and the media pack in February 2009. I understand that I need to download the current version 0.41 file and Patch G, but can anyone confirm whether I need to also download a new media pack? It seems to me that I don't, but it would be great to know before I start.

Thanks, and [comment of your choice indicating high regard for FFH2]

This is probably a stupid idea and perhaps it's already been done, but...

I LOVE the concept of FfH and all through my life I have been an aspiring writer. Would I be committing plagarism (i.e. could I get in trouble?) if I attempted to write a series of books based upon FfH and its various civilizations and heroes (if it's not already been done!)? Given my age I'd probably never finish it but, given all my spare time due to a health problem, it would give me something to do and a goal for myself.

I would attempt to incorporate all the scenarios that you have formed and I would also like to include new civs introduced by Further and Orbis. For me this is a massive undertaking, but my wife and I would love to work on a project such as this (as I've already mentioned, probably never done but still a LOT of fun!). My wife is great at maps and contributes many fine ideas. Me, by this time I'm getting to be an expert on the intricacies of the game -- even if I DO play at the chieftain level.

Anyway, a stupid idea but I did want to check to see if I'd get in trouble if anything ever did come out of it.

Thanks for listening and any feedback you might provide.
