[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

why bother with the axemen though? :)
get archers and cavalry instead:)

and its on higher difficulty levels that it makes more sense to use the pillage/raze

hmm...

Since I play in singleplayer my computer crashes every ~100 Turn completly (everything freezes and I have to reboot). Only whene I play this mod (all other programms/geames work perfectly).

any one else got this problem?

Yes I very much like raider, The extra power and movment point make a big diference early on. Oh one more thing could you please change the war time diplo song. Its very weird talking to the infernal with a banjo playing.

speaking of sound bits, the skeleton sound gives me the creeps. I sometimes even avoid summoning them since I so detest the sound :)

I think this is going to beat the record of the first version in pages...
It was over 400 pages and i'll just say. keep up the good work Kael!!!!!!

Yours isn't exactly minimalist :P

Can I suggest that you guys open a "Latest Version" sticky in the FFH forum (or at least something with a link to this thread)? It's a bit weird to have to browse back up here to actually download the mod.

Those have all been switched in 0.13. The civ specific music plays if you are at war or peace with them.

Good point, I'll do that.

I am over my friends house, and I downloaded FfH 2 0.12b onto his computer it installed fine, and I allowed the game to restart to load the mod, and nothing happened, we waited for about 45 min and still nothing happened do you know how to fix this?

By the way this is a great mod, my favorite in Civ 4, keep up the amazing work

You may want to try using the icon in the Fall from Heaven 0 012 directory to start it. Otherwise make sure he is patched. Is it possible he has less than 400 meg of free space on his hard drive?

I just finished my first game with this mod and I must say I really love it. Coming from a D&D background myself, I found this mod to be very rich and fun to play. I played as the Balseraphs and had a lot of fun with Loki. However I have a couple questions.

1. I would station Loki in another civ city to siphon off culture and gold. However, when I conquored the city, its culture would be listed as -8/1 and would never move, even though I should have been generating 2 culture/turn. Is this a bug? I used a few thanes of kilmorph to increase the city's radius, but the culture never increased on its own.

2. Is there someplace we can go to read the mythos/backstory here until the 'pedia is complete? I would love to know the interactions between the civs so I can play it as accurately as possible.

Thanks and keep it up!

Yeah, Loki tends to mess up the cities he visits. Thats ont he list to get fixed but probably wont make it into 0.13.

The history extract is in the 2nd post fo the ffh1 thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=3458409&postcount=2) gives you some of the backstory, and there is also a lot of detail in the FfH forum (link in my signature) although its mixed with lots of other stuff.

um, couldn't disagree more about cavalry there :)
I try not to war early if I have no horses.. and if I war its usually to get horses :)

try building 20 horsemen as fast as you can, go over to the neighbours, and just run around and raze/pillage every tile you can.
you pretty much guaranteed yourself an easy win there :)
now just get a couple of catapults around and thats it :)

also, the mobility of cavalry makes them perfect for war beause, well, it takes them 2-3 turns to get to the field of battle if you're battling a neighbour, while melee/archery units can take 10+ turns if you build them on the other side of your empire.
personally, its melee units I can't find the point in :) unless of course they have city raider 2-3 :)

That's your prerogative of course. To disagree, that is. *s* To each their own. But the fact of the matter is that cavalry gets their ass kicked by most other units when it comes down to brass tacks. Sure, they can (and should, if used as raiders) try to use their mobility to avoid getting tangled up in fights they can't win. But that way does not lead to any conquests. Pillaging aplenty, sure, but likely with some losses as stronger units sally out to smack your jolly horsemen over the head.

The speed at which they arrive to the battlefield generally isn't a huge concern for me as I try not to rely on winning wars by attrition and sending constant reinforcements, but that surely differs from player to player.

I'm certainly not saying cavalry doesn't have its uses, but I find them somewhat lacking as actual combat units, since they have lower strengths and fewer buffs available to them. So maybe adding something like, whatever, "ensorcelled lances" to the Enchantment sphere, to give them a similar buff to that which is available to melee, archery and disciple units currently.

Of course, maybe that is the flavor the mod is looking for. To use cavalry mainly as raiders, skirmishers, flankers and suchwise. But that completely leaves out their role as heavy shock troops. Which, again, may be a theme/flavor/balance-decision, I wouldn't know.

But, regardless. I'm babbling. The Hippus Raider is indeed quite nice, for the record. Had me one of those suckers with Mobility II (Tasunke as leader) running around inside the enemy border pillaging just about everything worthwhile he had whilst still avoiding any retribution.

So, anyways. Looking forward to the next version yo.

Cheers!

And just out of curiosity, full well realizing it might've been explained earlier (in fact it likely has), I have to ask exactly what the "minor civ" thing means? Mercurians and Infernals to be precise? They will.. Never be playable? Never receive as much attention as the other Civs? Never.. have as big a part of the history of the setting? Never.. get big fluffy christmas presents?

I'm curious. Because they are both kind of cool, for starters. ;)

Cheers!

Kael,

Pff...Absolutly great. The history of the One and his Angels is wonderful. With such a background, you can REALLY continue to improve FfH2. I'm impressed. Really.:goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

But what happened to Kyorlin and his fantastic sword ?
Who is really Basium ?
.......
So many questions...

There is just one problem: you are not speaking French ( i suppose) and are not gamemaster in my country...:mischief: :p

Again and again, great !

The (impressed) Frog.

The Godslayer is planned as the armageddon spell for the enchantment sphere. It probably won't be added until "Shadow" when we add equipment but it is intended to an extremly powerful weapon that will send Avatars heading for the hills.

Hi Kael & Company,

If you are considering changing or adding any resources, I have a suggestion: salt.

Given the level of tech development in FfH, it can make sense. Maybe salt could be a prereq for the Smokehouse or some similar food related structure.

In medieval times, reminiscent of FfH, many considered it more valuable than gold. Members of the Hanseatic League used salt from SW Poland to preserve herring harvested from the Baltic Sea and sold the briney fish at a nice profit throughout most of Northern Europe. The Malinese of Timbuktu became quite rich supplying the Middle East with salt for meat preservation.

If it doesn't work for FfH, salt may be a good idea for some other project down the road.

Minor means that they are not intended to be played as they might be unbalancing. They will be fleshed out in a later release but will not recieve full attention in Light.

Yeah, scheduled for.. uh.. Fire, if memory serves. *nods* But you will be able to select them, even though they are per se not -meant- for play, or will they continue to be unselectable on account of being unbalanced? Mostly curious, as it might be fun to romp around with one in a singleplayer game just to see what they're like, even though it's obviously not something for a multiplayer game, if they aren't balanced with the others.

But anyways. Looking forward to future releases!

Cheers!
