[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Turns out that both Breunor's and Nikis-Knight's suggestions did the trick. After declining help from the Game Flood Download Manager, I tried downloading again -- still no luck. I then went to Control Settings, Add/Remove Programs, and got rid of the Game Flood Manager that I had installed at some earlier date -- not this time around. When I used Nikis-Knight link I DID see the "press here to manually download" message that was missing before...

Apparently installing the Download Manager basically causes the download to ignore your preference NOT to use the Download Manager (does that make sense?).

Anyway, thanks for all the help. FfH .30 is now in the process of downloading. I'll leave it overnight and, hopefully, be able to call in sick tomorrow to work...

Anyone using Firefox and Norton Internet Suit has managed to download it?

I have done everything: with and without GameFlood client; with Explorer and with Firefox; Download via browser and Install Now... and nothing has worked.

Is there any other way to get it?
Emule or something?

Thanks.

Just Like to say thankyou to everyone involved in this mod, I have only had time to play a few turns as Faeryl so far, the new terrain works really well i think, adds a lot of atmosphere to the game. I only recently bought BTS so i could continue updating your Mod. You really have a knack for bringing out the best in civ 4 :) :goodjob:

Am I the only one who had no problems? I just clicked on the play button and choose "download via browser" and had no problems to download it.

And what browser are you using?
Any firewall?
Some special deal with the gods?

'Cause I had the same problem with the previous version, and no one from GameFlood seems to know any solution.

Could any charitative soul upload it to emule, or something?

Thanks.

No, worked nicely for me in the same way, I use Firefox for what it is worth (but no Norton, I doubt it would make a difference though, even Norton isn't that crappy).

Wallander, you may need to uninstall our application to get the HTTP download to work.

Also, Norton could be the root of all your problems for all kinds of reasons. Software firewalls can cause problems just by their nature, but Norton is a notorious beast when it comes to troubleshooting a machine.

I´m using FF with adblock plus and some other addons, as Firewall Sunbelt Personal FW.
I did sacrifice some maidens to get it going :crazyeye:

I could try to share via emule, but not today

hmm... as GFGuy said, it is holy Norton the source of my problems.

If I deactivate it, the download starts.
But if I reactivate, the download stops.

Should I let my pc unprotected for over three hours to get the mod?
Is there any "permission list" in Norton, so that I don't have to deactivate it?
What have I done to the gods...?

I have Opera, Sygate Firewall & Proxomitrom. Almost every fancy site with flash or jscripts gets blocked (due to the proxy) but the download from GameFlood worked like a charm from the first time. So I'm positive it's nothing wrong with the site, it's some firewall of other software you're running that's blocking the download.

Yeah, that's what I said, it must be Norton, 'cause if I deactivate it, the download works.

So I'll have to take the risk and disable it for three hours... hope nothing happens.

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble getting 0.3 to work with the Steam version of Beyond the Sword. I've changed the destination directory in the installation program to go to the proper location in my Steam folder, and edited the launcher to point to the right location of Civ4BeyondSword.exe. However, it will only load up regular Beyond the Sword. Anybody think of something stupid I might have done?

Did you perhaps install in the standard Civ4 mod-folder and not the BtS one? Only thing I can think of OTOH.

The new spell on Fire/Sorcery level 1 was a real surprise. I saw it may burn down woods and jungle, which suits me fine, as I have lots of jungle, and no sanitation tech yet. In this game I am sharing a continent with several others and raging barbarians, and my whole production rests on the woods, which cover the continent around 70%, 10% of which are jungle.
So I go up to the hill with the jungle I want removed and cast the spell. All that happens is black smoke. I say to myself, this spell has maybe just a chance to clear a field of jungle, and retry next turn. It turns out, I cant cast it, so I conclude, it works maybe only once per field. I walk over to the next field and recast it there, getting only smoke again. Crap spell I thought, moving the mage away and looked up where sanitation is in the tech tree. On the next turn the first field went up in fire. Oh, I thought, I see, they made it so, that it takes as long as workers would need to preserve balance, useful spell, though. On the next turn the inferno flared up and sprang over to an area of 5x5 squares. Within 10 turns the continent went up in flames, burning away all the woods (and my production capacity).

Therefore, please, put some warning on the package, that using this spell may cause sudden and large changes to the environment :mischief:

Btw, it *did* remove the jungle after all, so the description was correct, if maybe not complete...:)

Well that's what happens when you practice slash & burn tactics on the environment - She spits in your eye as if to say "Proceed with caution."

Did anyone but me notice that cottages etc. upgrades at a rate of 2 per turn?

Don't know if this is only a problem on marathon (or playing Svartalfar) but I just noticed it...
