[MOD] Fall from Heaven II

Well... I started building the Tower of Mastery and got hit HARD by a couple of world spells. I have a couple of questions regarding a couple of things that happened:

1. Someone (I'm not sure which civilization has the spell) cast some type of cold spell that killed and damaged a LOT of units. One of them was a Lich. I was surprised that he wasn't resurrected in my capital since he had the "immortal" promotion. Is this because a Lich really isn't considered alive?

2. The Elohim cast Sancutary on me and I encountered a couple of problems. While most of my units got sent to the closest patch of land that didn't belong to the Elohim, I have a few that were stuck on the Elohim lands (basically making the immoval). The same happened for a large majority of my ships (men of war, galleons, ship of the lines) that carried my troops to the Elohim continent -- they are stuck in the waters off the Elohim continent and I cannot move them (since they got hit HARD by the cold spell, they are basically sitting ducks for the Elohim fleet). Any idea of why some units were left in the Elohim lands (as I mentioned, quite a few of my troops were kicked off the continent to the closest island that was either my land or unoccupied)?

Thanks. Both of these got my curiousity up. Right now I'm hoping the Elohim kill my troops so at least I can get them back in my capital...

I am playing the h patch right now and have noticed a few things.

1. Revealed copper and got both mine and road to it but not getting it to show up as me having copper

2. Playing Cardith Lorda on Marathon speed and haven't gotten a chance to do his adaptive trait yet (turn 284 so far)

3. Captured a giant spider, revealed his nationality and still having Barbarians walk into his plot (it is Warriors I have seen so far do this). This is while the spider is inside my culture borders.

I think these are bugs but am not sure, might be part of the game. anyone enlighten me? Also what is the amount of turns to wait for adaptive trait?

4. I am also not receiving credit for the incense that I have.

1 and 4: you need a specific tech for them to be available as resources; that is, you can develop them per mine and plantation with one tech, but need a second one to utilize it. For copper you need Bronze Working, for incense I disremember, but I think you can see by a mouseover the plot

3.) Giant Spiders are invisible - with the new game mechanic, units that can't see invisible units will just ignore them and move into their plot (logical, isn't it?)

no idea on 2)

You need philiosophy.

Hello, i love your mod, very creative and intelligent (more interesting than the normal game).

But i have seen bugs, i have not tryed the new patch, so i you have corrected this bugs, i please you to forgive my useless message (and excuse my bad english, i am french).

1. You can spawn infinit slave with conseil of esus
2. You can transform slave into warrior with the balseraph arena, and you can have infinite warrior with conseil of esus trick
3. You can have infinit golem if you use the same cheat with the arena and the cauldron wonder. Same thing with soul forge.
4. If you embark hidden nationality units, like nightwash archer, in the troy horse, you can destroy the improvements on your foes territory.

2 suggestions:

1. It should be interseting to automate formers for demand them to rebuild the destroyed farm due to horrible armageddon trick.

2. It should be good to have automatised sortileges. For exemple, automatised skeletons raising, or automatised haste.

PS: i have send this mail to Kael but it's like he has not seen it, i dont have any answer. Perhaps is there a bug, or he is overbusied?

Not quite sure how "sortileges" translates, so I might be missing your point here. Are you suggesting that there should be a way to automate the casting of certain spells? Or do you mean that the AI players should have some logic routines adjusted regarding their spell casting (i.e. if the have a Death-capable adept and Death Mana, and they have not hit their Skeleton-cap, then the adept should cast Raise Skeleton). Or do you mean something else entirely?

I make a mistake, i wanted to say spell, sortilege is a french word. Your both propositions are intelligents, i suggested the first (automate spell until maximum, maximum squelettons for exemple, or until you demand to don't use it (for exemple, haste).

Same here. It killed ALL of my units -- and the game as well. At that point I shut it down and moved on with something else.

----------------------------

EDIT -- Found out what happened -- it was the Worldbreak spell. Way out of control. The AC was at about 50. Units should have been damaged about 40-60%. Instead ALL units got damaged 100%. Nuts...

So I was fooling around with the settings for forest growth the other day and set it really high, like 50, and within a few turns all landmass (custom_continents, huge setting, tropical) was covered by forests.

So far so good, nothing unexpected there but then the dragon hoard city + red dragon spawned somewhere far north. I though "so what, it's like the distance from moskwa to bejing so no danger here". A few turns later I saw the first puffs of smoke far north and within the next three turns I saw the most massive forest fire ever coming my way. Litterally the whole continent was on fire, a magnificent view. I have no idea what the dragon shot at up there, but the effect was massive.

So now I was wondering, perhaps this effect could be used in an armageddon counter catastrophe? Like putting a forest tile on every space, destroying improvements, then setting the whole thing on fire! If you have at least some landmass it will look very nice!

Another thing I was thinking about was deserts, in reality deserts expand, so why not add a growth rate to deserts, just like with forests? Not sure if it works because a forest is an improvement, whereas a desert tile is the "thing under the improvement", but growing deserts could be cool too, with or without armageddon relation, like small growth for deserts by default and when the armageddon counter grows the desert growth increases.

If this works, there could also be a catastrophe which spawns wasteland (infected land), and this infected land grows at an insane high rate (thinking of tiberium here) and you would need a cure spell or cure land to hold it at bay. And perhaps this infected land could have a positive effect for evil civs so evil civs want a high armageddon counter for another reason while the good civs really want to keep the fricken counter down.

I am still playing the vanilla civ version of FFH2 so if this or similar stuff is already implemented in the current version just ignore my post :)

Hello,

I'm having a hard time downloading the patch. I've been trying all morning and keep getting a "Cannot find server" screen. Is the site down? Is there another route to get the patch? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Seamus

I have that problem too. Moreover, I have a very slow download rate during this afternoon and I do not know why.

Ehmmm... and I download Gameflood and started to download the 2.030 version (today, because I finally get BtS), doing it a bit faster...

Can you, in future, add more mirrors of the files please?

The Lanun spell Raging Seas is VERY powerful and can kill just about anything. The only defense is not be next to the coast. On an Archipelago map it is just plain broken. Obviously, on Pangaea it just isn't so tough. I suspect this is what you got hit with.

Best wishes,

Breunor

@Furin 1. Once acheron comes into play forests around im will always burn... I personally love it... use water I spell or do like in real life and stop the spread by cutting down trees around it.

2. Be carefull not to encourage too many expanding lands that require mages over adept level to counter, the dwarves are going to hate this since the CAN'T get beyond that level in magic. (they can stop the desert spread by using water I, but really... do you want water I to almost be a necessaty in the game or to be a choice... consider this before asking for desert spread).

I've just installed this mod and the patch.
However, it keeps crashing whenever I actually try to start a game , after selecting civs, etc.
Using Civ 4 Complete Edition if that helps.

Probably a stupid question but... What exactly does the Guild of Hammers do for a city? I've looked both before and after adding it and I see no difference in shields produced from the city. Does it allow you to create more engineers in the city (eventually)?

Thanks.

According to the civilopedia, it modifies upgrade costs by -50%. It also has the best music in the game.

Gamespy is treating me badly... disconnecting, out of syncs, matchmaking room busy etc. etc. etc. Can ANYONE please tell me how I can connect to my friends via the "Direct IP Acccess" instead of logging on to Gamespy. OR....is there any other way (comrade?) to connect . Im am not very familiar with Network Connections so I need specific advice...I do, however, have my network settings from my Router. PLEASE SAVE ME !!!

I guess I should have read the Civilopedia a little more closely... Given the name I was expecting an increase in the shields. Of course the wonder that brings it into the game is a pretty nice bonus (forges in all cities!).

Thanks for the quick response!!
