Mod folder has been changed

I have a similar problem, but I can't run the Assetschecker.exe at all.

I get the error message "The applicaton failed to initalize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application".
Make sure you have installed the .NET Framework 2.0 or greater.

Windows XP sp3 installed, civ version 1.74, I think I have installed a couple of mods directly into the civ 4 .dll file, mainly the unoffical patch, no other mods. I also have the BAT 1.1 and BUG 3.51 installed for BTS.

I have the original dvd in drive for Civ 4, game loads, HoF mods loads, but asset checker doesn't. Mod notifies me of invalid game for HoF,

Also strangely I can't access the capital city interface either, I just played a game, testing out the options, but it wouldn't give me the interface for the capital, just the map around it.
You will have to get ride of those other mods. They make the assets different than expected with the HOF Mod. You will have to use a dual install to use those mods.

I have Windows XP Home, fully updated.

Despite LoggingEnabled=1, no PythonErr.log is created.

Normally I get a PythonErr2.log, but that is not renewed when I run the mod. The same goes for xml.log.

There is nothing unusual in the init.log. A resmgr.log is created, but it is empty.

I deleted and reinstalled the mod itself several times, of course, with no effect.
This is quite weird. A few random thoughts:

Is the HOF-3.17.001.ini file from the install? (i.e. all option defaulted to off, etc.)

It may be something as simple as that it can't find the ini file. Check the Registry and make sure that all the Civ4 paths are correct.

You are using an account with admin rights, correct?

Well, I was.

It turns out, that I now need to run the game with a non-admin account. An admin account can't find the DVD/CD-drive. Previously, it was the other way around.

Vanilla civ4 has always demanded a non-admin account to run on my system. Warlords, on the other hand, requires an admin account; there it is the non-admin account that can't find the drive.

Using a no-dvd crack, btw, makes no difference. Even though the drive is not needed, the HOF mod still checks its existence and exits if it doesn't find it. Without the HOF mod, no checking occurs and I can run the cracked version with any account.

Okay that is just weird. There is no code that I am aware of that does anything with the CD/DVD. I don't know how the no-dvd crack works. (I don't think we are supposed to discuss them on CFC Forums, BTW. So we are both warned for doing so. :mischief:) It must be that when the HOF Mod DLL overrides the DLL in the Assets folder it bypasses the bypass, so to speak.
