Did these stop happening? There were some comments about it recently in the Civ IV thread for announcing new mod releases.

In days gone by, news posts would be regularly made on the front page featuring mods that had been released recently for Civ games; Civ III and even Civ IV: Col had these posts regularly at the same time as IV (and I think V also).

It's been a while since I've been very active on these forums, so I may have missed some news about this.

I liked them; is there any chance we could get them back? Or did they stop just because the mods and admins didn't have the time to do the announcements? (Which would obviously be understandable).

Golly, it has been a long time since there were any of these. I don't check the home page very often - mainly just the forums - so I hadn't realized just how long it had been. So I checked the news archives, and it had been awhile.

I found only one for 2015 - and it's a Civ5 one that was barely after the start of the year.

For 2014, I found only two different Civ3 threads. Didn't find any Civ4 or Civ5 ones, although it's possible I missed one when looking over nine pages of threads.

There was the Mod of the Week effort for awhile in 2014, in which various mods (including older ones) were posted to the CFC Facebook and Twitter pages, and occasionally the homepage as well. An example thread is here. However, that seems to have petered out as well, as I loaded up the CFC Facebook page till last fall when Beyond Earth came out, and didn't find any Mods of the Week.

I'm not sure why they've been missing, but my guess is it had more to do with the people who were making the posts not having the time for them than any intentional policy. They do take awhile to make, as you can see from the Civ3 ones above (Civ4 also used to have graphical collages, and I think Civ5 did too). That said, there's still enough material for an update in the Civ3 Front-Page thread, as there is in the Civ4 thread, and I'm sure there's enough for a Civ5 update as well.

I'd support having them again, although I'm sure readers of my Civ3 story would agree that dividing my CFC time yet more in order to create them wouldn't be a good idea.

Yeah, same here, sadly. Right now I don't even have the time to work on my mods, much less compile release announcements for them, otherwise I would volunteer. :(
