[MOD]Spain 1936

hello fabrysse,

your mod is very good. but i´ve some problems.

1) franco does not appear in the game. i tried it twice and he never arrives in spain.

2) when does the frente popular split? in my game it splits after the second turn. is this okay? i can see on your screenshot, that it is possible also later.

i patched my warlord to 2.0.8 and installed the modversion 1.1.0.w

next i will try the newest version

and with the newest version all mentioned problems are solved. :)

There was some problems in v.1.1.0 that's why I uploaded the v.1.1.5 You should try to play with the latest version.

Awesome, I'll give it a try and let you know what I think. Thank you for all the hard work and mod implementation.

:edit:
I guess I should add, is this mod for Warlords 2.08? Or Civ 1.61?

This mod is for for Warlords 2.08

Is there a Civ 1.61 version? Also, have you thought about allowing Franco's Nationalists/Falangists to be playable against the AI. It could prove to be quite a challenge to win from his side.

No. There is no version for Civ 1.61.
Franco is not playable. When I did the Mod, I wanted to fight the facists, and not to play with them. Just like I think in real life.
That's a choice.

No disrespect intended. This is your Mod, thus: your rules, your interests, etc.

"Death to the fascists and their running dogs!"

so after some tough hours of playing your mod, i nearly killed franco and his troops. i pushed him from spain. he has just his cities in north africa.
suddenly there is peace. now the clou:
franco has became a vassal of caballero. why is this possible? now, if i declare war to franco, i also have to fight against caballero.
and why is it possible to the other members of the game to make cease-fire with franco. don´t they have to fight to whole time against him?
except these two points, the mod is excellent.

OK.
There are 2 things in your post.

  1. Franco has became a vassal of Caballero
That's a problem. Normally, if Franco becomes a vassal of someone (excepted Salazar perhaps), the game should be finished. In that case, the few cities still controlled by Franco should be acquired by the civ Franco became a vassal (so Franco would be killed), and then we could calculate the victory points. I'll add something in python files to fix that.
Thanks to have found that problem.
  2. Why is it possible to the other members of the game to make cease-fire with Franco
I don't think that's a problem. Each player has his traits and his way of thinking, his politic strategy. PSOE and CNT won't have the same attitude in the war. I think it's good. So, I'm not surprised when I see Caballero making peace with Franco. I know what is a moderate socialist, I see them every day of my life !! ;) The human player will have, with diplomacy, to make the other players to come back to the battle field...
When I play the game, Caballero makes peace with Franco. But that's interesting too for me, because he builds railroad everywhere, so my troops come more quickly... And, talking to Caballero, I try to make him declare war, not have currency, and so on...

in this case, should the game end immediatly?

i just wanted to know if its normal. it makes the game more challenging.
and btw sometimes it needs a lot of money to motivate the other parties to fight against franco.:)

Yes. Killing Franco ends the game. That's the goal, no ?
Then the computer calculate who was the best fighter against Franco (with the number of cities taken), and you can have :
  • a minor victory (the other factions become vassal of the winner)
  • or major victory (the other factions join the winner civ).

Yes : it makes the game more challenging ! :)

Hi and thak you for the job Fabrysse, It's quite interesting.

I would like to have just the map of Spain, in order to teach my littel son about the geogaphy of his country before entering in politics, you know :)

Could I?

Thank you very much

Nice Mod Fabrysse.. really nice :D

Anyway i think Franco should be playable... it's just a game u know... it would be more fun when u can play with all the civs cos u have more time with the scenario and more challenging...
I'm not supporting any idiology... really! but it's like Call of Duty on the internet... if people think that when u play with nazis u r a nazi?? pfff.. it's just a game and u need people to play that... and not 21 with americans and 1 nazi... i know.. is not the same case but u know.. just a game :P

I think it's interesting to have you civ spliting. Nationalists don't split...

I agree with your overall position Caleb, but, ultimately that decision rests with the creator of this mod/scenario and if he doesn't want Franco playable - too bad for us. While I agree that playing as Franco might add a new twist to the game, especially when you consider how uncertain a fascist victory seemed at that time, it is still up to Fabrysse to add that to his game. And, at this time, he (I think it is a he) has decided to not include Franco as playable.

Here's and idea, perhaps Fabrysse would allow someone to take this mod and expand on it.

I am a "he". :)

Of course everybody can take the mod and create a v.2 where Franco is playable.
It's a lot of work, because all popups will have to be created and added to python, but, if someone wants to do it, he/she's free to do it.
No problem.
:goodjob:

this is the best civ 4 mod i've played yt, it is very well put together and i like the whole choosing a civilization after the rebellion thing

great mod. wanna help me make one?
