This is what I want in 104-4 (CIV in roman numerals is 104). I first want it to be like the other civs but with more stuff. No RTS aspect which it won't be apparently. No 3d aspect. Just Civ3 with added bonuses like religion and laws.
I also want everything to be modable or scriptable. I want Civ4 to be able to be changed, via a mod not the shipped version, into other CIV games like 1-3, CTP, Age or Empires, and so on. I even want it to be modable into simple games like chess. I mean chess is just a CIV board with an 8x8 world and grassland terrain. All attackers will always win. And instead of moving 1 square at a time they have specific patterns.
I don't want civ4 to be complicated with micro and macro managing required but they can be done if you want. I would rather not have specific requirements like video or sound cards or modern OS'es or resolutions. It seems easy to do it the way Civ3 did it but expand.
I also want stuff that is normally installed to be optional. In civ3 you had to install it all and then delete what you didn't want like music. But in many cases it crashed if it needed something but you got rid of it. Especially with Conquests I just changed all the movie leaderheads to 1 picture since I didn't care for them and they were taking up space.
Now yes many people have newer computers like 2 GH and 100 GB and 1 gig ram. But not all. I only a older version that runs almost everything except stuff like DOOM 3 or console games. Even Civ3 didn't take many resources. I hope Civ4 will not be a hog either. Developers seem to be creating more code bloat with add-ons that some people don't use but increase the specs for programs and games. Civ3 still didn't have that except for music and graphics. I hope 4 won't either.
I would also want to keep it small like in 1 CD. Even 1 DVD is too much and many people like me don't have drives to read them. I don't want to have to get a new computer just to run it.
It does look like I will need to get a new one but hopefully all I will need to do is go to XP and I can still use a 256 MB ram, 2 GB hard, and 350 MH CPU computer.
