I just wanted to mention that it's heartwarming to see so many Civilization modding legends up and running with Civilization VII already! There's so much potential and with all of you guys on board, it's going to be an exciting ride!
The modding scene is pretty much the thing I'm most hyped for with civ 7's launch, can't wait to see all the amazing things you unbelievably talented peeps can come up with!
Not a real modder (some dinky mods on civ 4) but I've been following many of you guys for years. Does anyone know if Cephalo is still around? His perfect world map scripts made civ 6 playable for me. It really feels like the civ 7 maps are duplo blocks with trees and hills. Im crying inside.
It's way too intertwined. Basically, they are 3 different games. When you finish the exploration age, for example, the exploration module is unloaded, your data is copied and transferred to the modern era module. That's why it has all those weird issues with commanders having weird unit composition, etc. Your previous game is unloaded and some stuff is transferred to the new one.
You can potentially make it all a single module, but some stuff won't work (resources having a different value, different victories, etc). Basically, you can have a continuous game, but it won't have exactly the same mechanics as the regular game.
