At this moment, it seems posts to the Model Parliament forum do not add to the post count. I've checked that it is so a couple of times with intervals > 30 secs. Is this just spurious?

It has never counted, as per the original agreement with TF when setting up that particular forum. The reasoning then was all the spurious posts. You know - all the 'I vote so-and-so' and 'I agree' posts.

Thanks for the clarification. Now why did I ever think it counted - maybe that explains my note in other threads here about counts being lost during the 30 seconds period!

BTW you have to admit that 'I agree' posts seem to feature in the OT and Humor (eg "That's funny" or just fun smilies) forums too. Maybe a minimum word count to count? ;)

Minimum word count limits don't work. When you use them, you just get lengthier spam. All you have to do is ask any of the folks here who used to play the Mornington Crescent game in Other Games. We never actually spammed, just played by the rules of the game. But when you have a game with a rulebook so large and complex that it is rarely printed on paper, but instead is cross-referenced and indexed on several sites on the web, you can understand why it became necessary for us to get rather "wordy" in justifying moves that others questioned, or in specifying the exact nature of our moves, to avoid being knerdled, or put into knid.

Then again, some other posters here have also begun to master the art of spamming, while appearing to make long, voluble posts, yet saying very little to the actual point. I have noticed some up in Civ3-GD lately. You know who you are. ;)

I guess all I'm really saying is that if you put a "minimum word count" policy on posts, to avoid spam, you will just find your spam is wordier. That's all.

:D

:hmm:, I thought I was craftier about my posts than that. I geuss nothing gets by you afterall Padma. ;)

EDIT:Oops, I just did it again. Sorry.

hehe, I'm surprised the Demogame posts still count when you put it that way...

Actually, Chieftess has quite a valid point, why doesn't the same policy about Posts not counting in the Parliment also apply to the Demogame(s)? I mean, they are kinda similar, right?

Now, I really don't care since PC means nothing to me, but it does seem like a double edged sword, if you get my drift.

What is the "Demogame", btw . . . never heard of it . . .

Did we not already have this discussion three times? (twice here once in MP forum) Like XIII ( with new and neato avatar) said the place is full of semispam. (or in my case full fledged spam by the boatfull)

Well, YOU may have discussed this three times, but I have not.

What was the result of those discussions, anyway . . . ?

No it is spam, no it is going against our original request to TF, and NO we should work on getting a direct link from the forums home instead. (being put in other games instead of all other games)

27 posts, in general discussions, in 1 hour! I was astonished by this... The poster in question also stopped once he got to 300.
Coincidence? I think not :mischief:

You really do talk ****e :) In several threads you've posted just before/after the Demogame has been mentioned.

It's like the Model Parliament, minus political groups, but add in a strategy game (usually Civilization II and III. Apolyton also does it for SMAC, and I think GALciv) that you discuss everything, poll everything, and then play up to 10 turns.

Nominations and Elections are the spammiest in that game.

"I accept"
"I decline"
"I nominate..."
"I 2nd"
"I 3rd"
"I nth..."
"I also nth..."

"Go XYZ!"
"Yeah, ZYX is winning!"
"WOW! Tight race!"
"[dance]"
"[party]"

I PMed TF about that, among other things, ahev have yet to receive a reply. I am going to start a thread in SF shortly, if I don't get a reply. I am in a whining kinda mood . . .

I have gotta check out this Demogame thing, it seems fun. While I have HEARD of it, I didn't know where it was, or what it is. I'll spec it out though . . .

Huh? It is sunny here, and 1:45 pm, but what is this referring to?

It's referring to the fact that anytime of day there's sunshine in more than two timezones, you're likely in a whining kinda mood...
