How many of you buy your pc or console games from Video Game Mongers such as Electronics Boutique, Gamestop, Gamefly, or other?

Do you always get asked at some point during your shop visit if you would like to place a reservation for an upcoming game? Do you get asked if you have any used games you'd like to trade in?

Here's a favorite of mine.....You walk into the store the day a game gets released and they ask you if you are on their preorder list. If they have the game you want in stock they sell it to you but they let you know that you should really preorder next time to avoid getting the last copy of the game or not getting it at all.

What about buying a brand new game that has already been opened and then resealed by the store?

I buy games through Internet, I compare prices and buy where it is the cheapest. Usually I buy from Amazon or CDon.

I purchase all my games from the shops. However, I have the great joy of knowing a guy who works in one of them, so he keeps the questions out and gives me a student discount (I'm not one).

The most I get asked when I'm not being served by him is if I have a 'points card.' I do, but only to stop them bloody asking if I wanted one every time I shopped there. I believe I've saved a grand total of £15 over the past four years of using it. Bargain!

(That said, whenever I get told I can get £2.50 off, I do think "ooh, that's like a free pint!")

I buy at stores. I never get asked any of those questions. :smug:

I usually buy games in stores (mostly Gamestop).
I bought NWN2 on D2D and I can say I'm very happy with it. You're not worried about the shop having the game in stock, you're guaranteed to get it on day one, and it works really well. I think I'm probably going to use it more.

Buying games is such a hassle... there is no good shop in my area and even amazon only has the German versions. So i mostly shop at ebay.co.uk.
Direct to drive sounds interesting, but i vaguely remember people having problems with it (patches not working or somesuch).

D2d requires a credit card :) and indeed with NeverWinter Nights 2 you couldn't download the first patch, but it only took a couple of days to fix the issue - and you wouldn't believe how mad stupid people got over a two-day delay, even though the game was perfectly playable!

I suppose looking for games online might lower my temptation to buy so many. I mean, I'm in the shop, clutching Football Manager 2007 and for some reason I just don't want to let go.

"It has me, my precious." :p

Amazon.de. Amazon.co.uk wanted my credit card number last time i tried. Alas, i don't have one...
That's why I don't shop online, either. :/

I prefer traditional brick-and-mortar stores, anyway. It's not at all inconvenient for me, since there are a couple game shops near my home (one Electronics Boutique and one privately owned store).

As for downloading, no way. Again, I'd assume it would require a credit card (assuming we're talking about legal downloads, here ;) ), and I'd much rather have something physical to show for my purchase. I'm a big fan of packaging. ^_^

On a side note, the vast majority of the games I've bought, except for birthday or Christmas gifts, are used. Unless it's a Legend of Zelda title, I'm seldom in any particular hurry to play something as soon as it comes out, and it saves a lot of money for me.

WalMart (many games), Futureshop (many games) and Staples (1 game) are where I buy my games. They don't ask questions but I rarely pay the full price since I wait until it is $40 or less usualy.

me either umm.. ten char'!

That sounds exactly like the last time I went into Gamestop.

I do the Bestbuy/Ciriut City or Wal*mart/Target thing. They will have a game on sale either right when they come out or in the weeks following. I do go to EB and the like for used games.

I usually go to gamestop.

I only order for hard to find games because i dont like waiting a day or two for shipping.

I tend to buy things via stores.. however the internet would be handy, i feel like such a tool standing in the line in Electronics Boutique, waiting for the cashier to stop blabing about how much they like some manga cartoon to another customer, then sort of mock me for buying someting like evil genius....

You realize, of course, that new games are priced the same no matter where you go? The only price difference is on used merchandise, which Wal-Mart doesn't deal in.

Unless, of course, something has changed recently without me knowing about it.
