Came across this in one of Fairline's OG collections but I don't think it has ever been posted in Civ form - PHL-03 MLRS, the Chinese version of the Russian BM-30 Smerch:
The latest Russian upgades of older Soviet gear.
The BTR-82 armored personnel carrier is the latest version of the BTR-80 family. The original BTR-82 entered service with the Russian Army in 2011. However production soon switched to upgunned BTR-82A, which is used by the Russian military in large numbers until the new-generation Bumerang armored personnel carrier is available. It has been exported to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Syria, Turkmenistan and possibly other countries.
The BMP-1AM Basurmanin is an upgraded version of the ageing Russian BMP-1. It uses a new 30 mm turret, similar to that of the BTR-82A. At least 37 have been procured since 2020. The BMP-1AM remains a second line IFV, which pales in comparison to even the early 1980s BMP-2, let alone new Russian products.
The Breguet Br.1150 Atlantic is a French cold war long-range maritime patrol aircraft. It was previously used by France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Pakistan. An updated version, the Atlantique 2 or ATL2, was produced for the French Navy in the 1980s and is still in use.
The Lockheed S-3 Viking was a 4-crew USN carrier aircraft used for anti-submarine warfare. In the late 1990s focus shifted to surface warfare and aerial refueling. It also provided electronic warfare and surface surveillance capabilities to a carrier battle group.
The Viking΄s predecessor -in the previous post-, the Grumman S-2 Tracker was the first purpose-built ASW aircraft to enter service with the United States Navy.Introduced in 1952-54, it was exported to a number of navies: Argentina (15), Australia , Brazil, Canada, Italy, Japan, Netherlands , Peru, South Korea, Taiwan (retired in 2017), Thailand , Turkey , United States (retired in 1976), Uruguay and Venezuela. Only Argentina and Brazil (?) still use the type.
Turned Fairline΄s Vautur into its Soviet doppleganger: the 1960s Yakovlev Yak 28 Brewer mach 1 tactical bomber and Yak 28P Firebar mach 1.1 missle armed long range interceptor. 1180 built, most withdrawn in the early 1980s. Some ended in Ukrainian, Turkmenistani and Belarussian service in 1992.
1955 Yak 25M Flashlight gun armed radar interceptor, main version -406 built. Retired by 1967.
Yak 27 Flashlight C mach 1.05 tactical reconnaissance variant Yak-27R Mangrove (180 built). In service from 1960 to the early 1970s, replaced by the Yak 28R Brewer D.
Yak-28R Brewer-D A dedicated tactical reconnaissance version of the Yak-28I, first flew in 1963. A total of 183 built.
The Yakovlev Yak 38 Forger was the Soviet Naval Aviation's only operational VTOL strike fighter aircraft in addition to being its first operational carrier-based fixed-wing aircraft. It was developed specifically for, and served almost exclusively on, the Kiev-class aircraft carriers from 1976 to 1991. 231 Yak 38s were built, including 34 Yak-38U trainers and 52 improved Yak-38M.
A handful that took part in Operation Rhombus in Afghanistan, May 1980, had 3 tone mountain desert camo.
