Modified Iowa Class BB

Thanks for the compliment PCcommander, but I do have to correct you. The Iowa class consisted of the following ships : USS Iowa BB61, USS New Jersey BB62, USS Missouri BB63, and USS Wisconsin BB64. The North Carolina was one of the two North Carolina Class Battleships, the other was the USS Washington. However ,the South Dakota class does have a similar appearance to the Iowa Class, in fact, the Iowa class borrows some designs from the South Dakota class.
Anyway, glad to see the support for this project, but have patience guys, it'll take me a while. I'm pretty picky,so I want to make it look as good as I can, and I don't have a lot of time to spend on it. I'm almost done with the Default animation, next step will be either fidget or run animation.

Oh i didn't know I was watching the history channel and i thought(I was pretty sure)the U.S.S. North Carolina was a Iowa Class. thanks for telling me about that:goodjob:

yes, is it still under development? If not, how about putting the work so far on here, so maybe someone will finish it.

Sorry for the hold up guys. I put the default views ingame, and played it. I decided to make further changes . Just touching up the image more . This is the 1980s refit. Notice the helo pad on the fantail and the radar mast on the no 1 funnel. Sorry guys, I haven't touched this in weeks, been busy. I'll try to start making time to finish this up. If not, I'll post my revised default views to let someone else finish it. I'll let you guys know.

I found this great picture of one of the modernized Iowas firing all its guns. Thought I'd share it. :)

Sweet, I think I have that photo in one of my books.

Progress is slow on the Iowa graphics. I redid the default photos, I wasn't happy with my first renderings. I am working on "RUN" graphics now. I will probably post the default and run files when I am done. I am not spending too much time on this project lately. Summer is here, and I don't want to waste it like I did last year. When I am on the comp', I play games more than working on this, just because playing games is more enjoyable. Sorry for the slow progress guys.

Sweeet, an Iowa class. I love my naval units so i can't wait for this to be finished. Keep up the good work :)

First off, I would like to apologize to everyone eager about this project. I am post-poning it until late summer/early fall. I don't not have enough time right now to finish it. I don't even have my revised Default flics done. I should have not even posted anything until I was finished. I just wanted to see if there were any support for this idea, and there is. Any moderator reading this, please delete this whole thread. Sorry guys. It will get done, just not anytime soon.

Aaaaw, shame, was looking forward to that unit. :(

sorry, ignore this.

You are correct. The Iowa class BBs were built late into WWII, and there were only four of them:
BB-61 USS Iowa
BB-62 USS New Jersey
BB-63 USS Missouri
BB-64 USS Wisconsin

All are now floating museums. :D
The battleship is now truly obsolete. :(

The North Carolina (also a floating museum docked in Wilmington) was built earlier in the war, and is slightly smaller. I forget which other BBs are in that same class.

The battleship is now truly obsolete.
At least until missile defences make airplanes and cruise missiles obsolete:cool: :mwaha:. Then the days of the big guns will be back. They'll be back! They always come back....:p

Big guns will always be around in one shape form or fashion. Also, thanks joespaniel, I was always wondering what the 4th of the series was. Also, if possible, this should be able to carry cruise missles, seeing as the 80s retrofit did include that into the system, later used during the Gulf War. Also, vingrjoe, not bad looking, always loved that class of ship, nice choice.

Dont worry, just got paint shop pro, and am working on a brittish battleship. Also plan to do the 43 destroyer, and the 22 and 23 frigates.
