[MODMOD] Thal´s FlagPromotions for CPP

How do I use this mod in Multiplayer, please?

Lynnes, I uploaded your edit (v.4) and every time I attempt to load my savegame, Civ5 crashes. But, if I start a new game everything runs perfectly! (I too was having the expansion2-64.dds and expansion2-256.dds issue.)

Regardless, thank you for fixing this. I haven't played Civ5 in years. CPP and FlagPromotions has me excited for this game again!!

Yeah, I think the different versions are not savegame compatible, so you have to start a new game after updating the mod. :)

Thank you for the upload :) Some small questions and bugreports:

Only had time to try a few turns, but it seems like the promotions didn't show up until I set UnitFlagmanager.lua in the references to 1. Would that work or would it cause later complications? What would happen if I set some of the other references to 1? Sorry, am really new to civ 5 modding after discovering the awesome cbp. With them then visible, the promotions from the same line don't combine though (so have both shock 1 and 2 visible) and the level is visible, too.

Also the ModSupport version still has the 100 xp testthing on and the AA promotions seem to be the only promotions on the respective unit.

I replaced the lua file but forgot to set import to true again! I fixed this now. :)
I could not reproduce the bug with promotions that don't get condensed (Drill 1 + 2,..) though.

I also increased the number of available promotions for AA units when using the Anti Air Specialisations Mod and the level system should work for AA units now as well.

If you could try it out and let me know if all issues are fixed now, this would be very much appreciated. :)

Could you consider using a different upload / download service? This one puts out some very nasty adverts, saying things like "Your computer is infected with viruses, to clean up click here, etc." The usual scams and dishonesty.
 
I'm using an adblocker so I've never seen them. Do you know a better one where I can upload without registration? I'll upload the files for you there!

Why not upload them to the CFC Downloads Database?
 
Thanks for the quick fix! Only tried the pure Flagpromotion so far and it's working great. An initial split between shock 1 and 2 fixed itself by passing the turn or so. Only small thing I found is Trailblazer (I think this is a new promo) remains split with 1 and 2 and Armorplating doesn't have the fancy tooltip with title and all like the other promotions that could be chosen. But this is just small QoL stuff, it's pretty nice overall :)
 
I was looking for this mod but I noticed the ModSupport version. Does this mean that FlagPromotions don't work with any other mods that might include their own new custom promotions?

No, it will work with any mod, you'll just don't have the small flag-icons for the new promotions in case they don't use icons that were already in the game, that's all.

It should be compatible for most promotions.
The modsupport does the following:
1) Hide some of the new promotions, that should not show above the flag.
2) Change some icons (because Flagpromo mod introduce some new icons)
3) Stack promotions, that are not numeric. Flagrpomo mod does stack promotions like Drill 1 and Drill 2. But if there is no number, it does not know that they should be stacked to one icon. So you have to tell Flagpromo mod that e.g "PROMOTION_AA_INTERCEPT_I" and "PROMOTION_AA_INTERCEPT_II" should also be stacked.

All of this is done in the Cat_Promotions.sql file.

And another thing:
New promotions with new icons are not supported. Because to show the icon over the flag, a icon of the size 16x16 pixel is needed. So you have to change it to an icon, where such a size exists, or create and add such a file by yourself.

I won't be getting the ModSupport one because of the mods that it comes with.

Yep, that's right.
Or the custom promotions use vanilla icons. In that case they will appaer as a flag-icon!
