Mods you'd make if you knew how

I was wondering how many people have ideas for a mod but don't have the needed knowledge or skill to make it.
I wanted to recreate the Atlantis scenario from Civ2 Fantastic Worlds. One problem is I wanted to look at the original but FW scenarios don't work in the Civ2 version I got with the Civilization chronicles box set. If I had that I'd a least have something to start with and make changed from their and not start with nothing. I wouldn't have any artwork though so I'd have to use things from other mods, like Fall from Heaven for fantasy things, but I don't know how free or protective people are with their work. So it's artwork and
I also wanted to make a Master of Orion mod based on the Final Frontier mod. Someone beat me too it though, although I had other ideas on how to go about it than the one that exists. Since the base mod would already be done I'd have an easier time with it just changing units, promotions, the tech tree, etc. and not needing a lot of artwork other than leaderheads but it would be redundant and although in many ways my version of MoOciv would be different, it probably wouldn't be different enough for people to want to try a second mod. Or really a third one if you could the original Final Frontier.

Anyone else have ideas they'll never use?

In both cases theres a lack of knowledge of how to actually make a mod thats stopping me. I've moded MoO3 before so it's not a totally foreign concept but I don't know how more difficult it would be.

Any kind of alternative history mod - for example; If rome never fell, vikings colonizing america, confederacy after winning civil war, etc.

dunno if this is the appropriate place, but i'm looking to learn the process of building a mod for civ. I really want to build a Settlers of Catan mod, I have people to help me with code but i have no idea where to begin. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Would also luv 2 build atlantean mod, didn't know bout civ2 having one, never played it.
However i would like to comment on yur post, i think it would be alot easier n fun if u build it just 4 yurself, if others want to play it also or not. Of course, an attractive idea would probly get u mor help from the community.
I for one am seriously considering building an atlantis mod starting with a map and i would most assuredly be using grafx from others' mods like it or not. But wud give credit in download description.
There is a mod under construction called atlantean chronicles but it is for civ3.

I'd like to see a post-apocolytic mod. Maybe post-nucular war, where the earth is devastated - Gamma World style, or any of the varied post-apocolyptic futures out there (Fallout, maybe). Mutants, ruins, civs rising from the ashes of former glory, etc. I'd like to see it as complete and rich (and balanced!), and easy to install and work with as the Legend of Revolutions and Fall from Heaven efforts.

Oh, and I'd like Christmas year round, an ice cream sunday with sprinkles, and a pony... :p

Not strictly a mod, but I'd like to see some sort of application that makes adding new civs a lot easier.

I'd make small changes to the game - balancing it out by buffing some underpowered units, changing a requirement here and there, etc. Nothing major like creating new worlds or adding new game concepts. I would also add three leaders with the missing trait combos (Cre/Cha, Org/Pro, Ind/Phi).

Something that would get me good maps by changing the generator and not regenerating until it hits the map I want.
Also an in game calculator for stuff so I don't have to keep alt-tabbing, and with formulas built in to make things easier.

I'd like to have a clue how to make leaderheads. Or maybe just how to take off Churchill's hat and put it on Boudica or something fun like that. But no, I am buried in acronyms and 'step-by-steps' that make huge leaps.

US-only Civil War mod. On a very big map, think Civ2's Civil War scenario...

I would fix the controls (as TheMeInTeam has already explained does not work as they should) and fix the whip overflow bug from patch 3.19. Thats it.

I'd do an Elric/Young Kingdoms mod. I could program a mod, but would need units and stuff.

A Lords of Midnight mod might be cool too (ancient strategy game on the Spectrum).

I'd make one that every turn asked me questions before I hit "Next Turn" Questions such as: Did you check on your settler so you can whip it? Did you arrange tiles in your cities to your liking? Did you check cities for the spy GP that always seems to crop up when you don't want it?

Commonsense stuff like that would really help me. I know what I am doing, but I forget the micromanagement stuff that better players have down by heart.

Not got BUG or BUFFY then?

Red Front from Civ2.

And if I knew how, I might make some minor modding changes to Submarines and the planes vs. ships mechanic, and add a Predreadnought unit between Ironclads and Destroyers.

PieceOfMind pretty much created this. Check out the Probably Improved Gameplay mod.
