@ Yankitor - I have only looked at the screenshot so forgive me if I am off the mark.
You seem to have indiscrimantorily cottage the fk out of your empire at the cost of any significant production cities. If you are planning to go to war as you suggest, you will want to be able to pump out units quickly and I cant see any city that can do that.
In barcelona, for example, I would have farmed a few of those river side tiles or at least chain irrigated the grasslands to north and north east of the city which are not river side. I would then put workshops or watermills on the plains tiles. As far as i can tell you have 5 surplus food from the pigs and the city. Plains cottages are generally a bad idea.
This is one example of city specialisation. It would mean that in barcelon you would want to build only barrachs, stable, walls, citadel, forge and maybe a courthouse and then pump out units constantly.
