Okay, recently, I made a big jump from Warlord to Monarch.

My question is this, how do I stop the opposing civilization to stop declaring war on me? They always take a few warriors, spears, archers, and then they demand something from me, and I tell them no, and then they declare war. They even do it when I have a stronger army.

How can I prevent them from attacking all the time.

(Well, It's not really a big matter, but I'd like to know how)

The easiest way to deal with that is to stop telling them no.

One of the things that happens on monarch is that the AI starts getting bonuses - as you get better, you will be able to overcome those bonuses, but you start off behind the AI, and the AI demands things of you when you are weaker than they are.

When you get to much higher levels (deity, Sid), the AI will almost always be stronger than you until the mid point or always, so if you don't want war, you have to give in.

I don't want to give up my resources, techs, and other things...

You have to learn to put away your pride - it's just a computer, not a real person. Just bend over for the AI once in a while - it can keep the peace (if you so desire), making it easier to destroy them at a later date. Hard to learn for some people.

It may be fine to give in to a demand at times, even at this level, if the cost of spanking them is more than you want to pay right now.

Otherwise you will just have to slap them down. If you stop making spears and make attackers (swords, horses), they will be less inclined to demand anything.

When you finally ARE ready to punish them for their earlier demands, saying "no" to them and having them declare on you is an excellent way to get "war happiness", a bonus you don't get if you do the declaring of war. :D
