Monastaries after Scientific Method

What happens to monastaries after Scientific Method? Obviously they stop generating science, but do they stop generating culture? Can you build missionaries with them?

They do still give culture and you still can build missionaries.

But you can't build any new monostaries (so if you get a very late religion, you can't spread it internally).

Actually, you can still build missionaries in cities without monastaries AFTER Scientific Method if you are using Organized Relgion as your civic.

Right, so unless you are running Organized religion, build those monastaries before Scienitific. Last game I wanted to pick up as many religions as I could but found I couldn't spread new ones if I didn't build monastaries before SM showed up.
