LAS VEGAS (AP) - A three-alarm fire broke out Friday at the Monte Carlo hotel-casino, sending plumes of black smoke above the Las Vegas Strip.
The fire, which was reported around 11 a.m., was spreading from the center section of the hotel across the roof. Flaming embers fell to the street below.

"The building is being evacuated," said Gordon Absher, spokesman for the hotel owner, MGM Mirage Inc.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, according to an ambulance dispatcher.

Huge crowds formed to watch the fire, and traffic on the Las Vegas Strip was gridlocked as streets were blocked off around the hotel.

The Monte Carlo Resort & Casino has more than 3,000 guest rooms and opened in June 1996.

The 32-story casino-hotel modeled after the Place du Casino in Monte Carlo, Monaco, was a joint venture between Steve Wynn's Mirage Resorts and Circus Circus Enterprises.

Oh, goodness, I actually thought that somewhere in Europe was suffering. I was panicking. But then I realised that it was only a place in America.

I've stayed there. Decent enough little casino. Good location. Large rooms for a decent price. Thin walls though.

Bush did 1/25!

OMG 125 Truther!

You see the fires were really a holographic projection from a CIA black project like the one used in 9/11 and there were really magnesium incendiaries placed in the building while it was being constructed to justify his tax relief plan by victimizing people that save their money instead of throwing it away in casinos! WAKE UP AMERICA!

(Seriously I saw one 9/11 conspiracy theory saying the planes were a holographic projection around a missile. But that's for another thread)

Ok, who left a lit cigarette on the bed? or
Who let Maitanance slide with the wiring?
