Hi again, gang.
February is always a difficult time of year: lots to do, and less month to do it in. This is the time of year that many of our best modders get very busy with big projects, figuring that the cold winter will force them indoors to finally buckle down to their work. Ha! I don't know about you, but for some reason all of my friends have decided that this is a better time than ever to be outside, finding plenty of reasons ranging from political marches to (I'm not kidding) yard work to bundle up and breathe frost. They all know that I despise winter, that if I were rich enough, I'd be one of those jerks who jumps on a plane in November, says "so long suckas!" and sits out the winter months on a beach, returning only to watch the flowers bloom in April, and to complain about chilly mornings. As it is, however, I'm rushing this because I have to get dressed in twenty layers of clothing to attend an outdoor(!) performance by a friend's band. Because no one believes in calendars anymore, apparently.
January, however, was super productive here in the forum. We held the End of the Year Contests, and had more participation this year than last, which should come as a giant one-finger salute to all of those who keep telling me that no one cares about Civ III modding anymore. To the contrary - not only were last year's creations some of the best looking work I've seen, the level of quality coming from some of our seasoned modelers and artists is just phenomenal. So if you missed it all (and where were you?), you can still have a look at the contests and and cheer or jeer the winners at the End of the Year contest thread. Go ahead - I'll still be here when you get back.....
So on to this month's contest: This month we have an 'explosive' contest between two unit makers well known for their high-grade game units. Our nominees for Unit of the Month for January 2017 are:
gwendoline - MIM-72 Chaparral
~ and ~
Delta_Strife - MS-05B Zaku I
Good Luck to both of these fine unit makers! Let the voting begin!
