So I have been playing around with 3Danalyze (for those who tried and couldn't make it run - the problem is that you need to add 3Danalyze's directory to your PATH environment variable, so that it can find its DLL's), and had managed a bunch of changes (disabling lighting, for example, causes some really interesting effects).
But I did find that by choosing "skip" (all) pixel shader versions, and then choosing "emulate pixel shader caps", I get the rivers back (they were not showing before). So now I have resources, forests, and rivers, and the occasional tundra.
Because 3Danalyze has so many options, it is difficult to go through all the possible settings, but I am hoping that I can find that "magical setting" that will let the terrain show, even if in significantly reduced mode.
