More Civilisations

Much about the Greece split lately, are they the most likely to be released next?

Dare I ask if E&D support for the Indian civs are close or far away? :) No pressure.

I'm sure we'll see E&D support for the Indian Civs before the passing of this manvantara.

Haha, okay, implies patience. ;) That's fine, working my way through them now. The Mughals are very nice, synergistic (more than I had anticipated) and fit my playstyle perfectly. Although I used to like the Mughal Fort, the Qila now makes it more worthwhile bothering with walls and castles. :)

I don't understand the Farsakh, it sounds underpowered. You can't move it when it's damaged... what?

The Farsakh is actually quite a beast, I fended off a huge offensive on my cities from Mongolia AND Attila with just 2 Farsakh cannons backed by a mere handful of knights. Their 30 ranged strength is nothing to laugh at, I mean it's still higher than the ranged strength of artillery :crazyeye:. They work very well as a hard hitting support unit - when backed by the protection of other units (especially when they have the medic promotion), you have quite a formidable force on your hands. IMO, not being able to move when damaged and a vulnerability to melee attacks is a fine compromise for the amount of pain they can dish out, even when damaged.

I'd agree with you had it not been for how easy to choose which unit the AI will focus on. Just have a injured unit nearby to soak up all ranged attacks. It's a bit vulnerable to mounted units, though that feels realistic.

Almost week ago, I posted a comment on Steam about Polynesia Split mod, but since I haven't got any answer on that matter I'll thought that I try to post it here ;)

First things first: I'm really enjoying yours mod, it has high quality art (well, it's janboruta afterall), interesting and historically accurate abilities, nice DoM voiceovers (well, it's Andrew Holt afterall) etc. but I've encountered some problems with it.

1. Decisions for Tonga doesn't display properly. Of course, you can take relevant information from E&D wiki, but still, it doesn't look very, well, professional ;).

2. Isn't Tonga UA a little too strong? Well, maybe I'm still noob in this game (I start with Civ 5 some 4-5 months ago), but I think that such high rewards - getting through social policies and early technologies in no time, securing pantheon and even religion without any effort - just for exploring (which civ intended for CS alliances will be doing anyway) is pretty imbalanced.

Wouldn't be better if Tonga just get double (or even triple) gold and faith bonuses for meeting City States (plus analogical bonus for meeting regular civilizations). Something like peaceful Songhai's ability. That would give Tonga even stronger diplomatic bias, and you could use that gold to buy religious, cultural and scientific buildings (hence sort of taking back "old" bonuses).

3. This one isn't report about any bugs but rather question about strategy for Tonga. I don't really get synergy between Tonga's uniques and decisions. UA pushes for diplomatic victory and City States alliances but those Tonga's two mutually exclusive decisions deterring you from trading with them (hence making harder to use Treaty Organisation tenet); UB gives incentive to build tall and go for scientific, Vava'u decision can only be useful if you warmongering etc.

Any tips, strategy, tactics? ;) Little warmongering, wiping out other diplomatic nation, using former Tongiakis for Autocratic Gunboat diplomacy tenet - that sort of thing?

4. Rapa Nui's maoi doesn't seems to work as intended. I'm getting only "vanilla" culture but no faith. This is the most disappointing bug, because that civ bascially scream Sacred Sites Cultural Victory for me ;) Any chance for soon fix?

5. Last but not least - when we can expect to play as Sparta and Athens? ;) Any chance for little spoilers about art and uniques of splintered Greece ? ;)

Thanks for the answer, and once again - good job :)

And finally, I want to say hello to all of you, and thank you for many great mods (Historical Religions, Cultural Diversity, Ethnic Units, Events and Decisions come to mind) which makes my experience with Civilization much more immersive ;)

P.S. Sorry for any grammar and spelling mistakes, I'm not native speaker and haven't need to use english language much often.

Most art and uniques that are done were already revealed in various parts of the forums. I'm currently encumbered by school work, mostly. I hope to get some new art done during the Easter break, but who knows for which mod will it be - there are so many I've been employed to work on. :)

I finally got around to trying the Polynesia split last night and I started with the Tonga. Their 2 opposing Decisions (Domestic vs. International trade routes) have the "TXT_KEY . . . " displayed in their descriptions in the E&D window. Luckily, I was just computer literate enough to go into the XML file and read what it was all about so I could choose the Decision I wanted. But I figured I'd let you know about it in case other players aren't the computer genius that I am :mischief:

I think it was a one letter typo thing (wasn't it the pPlayer as opposed to Player tag or something?).

I imagine you're getting quite drunk, then :P

Unfortunately no one is showering me with bottles of that drink, all I got are empty promises. :( I assume the cost of shipping all that beer overseas would far exceed the worthiness of the effort of doing so. :p

I'll have to check that out when I get home today. I kept comparing the code for those 2 Decisions with the 3rd one (which was showing up properly). But, to my untrained eye, nothing was jumping out at me.

I could send you a couple just across the border

Spoiler :
But i won't

Yeah, this was way over my head. I went into the LUA file and found lots of instances of pPlayer, iPlayer and Player for those 2 Decisions, but I don't know which ones are supposed to be which.

Hopefully there's going to be another mod or two coming out before then anyway. There was going to be an April Fool's day civ too, but due to other commitments and disinterest from certain parties we've had to scrap it. Which is a shame, because it would have been a cool civ. Hopefully we'll be able to revisit it in the future.

And on a completely unrelated note, here's another bit of art for a different project which you may recognise, done by the same artist as the Crystal Palace splash:
