With you mentioning the word "luxury" I have to ask - if I use this ability for the Gauls in my Anno Domini mod, where copper is a strategic resource and not a luxury, will it just select a luxury metal?
EDIT: To answer my own question, I guess it depends on how I mod it! It would make sense to follow the design and have it as luxury metals only.
I've not had the Gauls crash on me, but the Sami unfortunately inevitably does every time. I think there are more people who experiences this while others can play it without problems. It's so sad because it's my (a tiny bit) nation and the only one I can't play, haha. Oh well. They got a very nice design and are very fun to play. That makes me glad.
Logs don't always explain why a game crashed. If they did, I wouldn't have had to spend half a year troubleshooting to find the cause the last time it happened. I think the current version of Piety and Prestige is the culpret which is why I'm testing a game without it to see.
@local hero: I have played a full game with The Sami before without a problem, they are very enjoyable to play as. I don't think I'm having a specific problem with them.
Playing as the Gauls and using a slew of other mods, I get a lot of slowdowns on opening the city screen and doing any kind of actions inside it (switching citizens, choosing production). It's manageable, only last around 10 seconds but it does get annoying.

I remember Sukritact mentioning Sukhothai/Ayutthaya/Siam as a possible split a while ago. So, is this still anyhow relevant? I'm a huge fan of your Burma and Khmer mods and this one is a split that I would love to see and play if it ever comes out)

I remember posting something about this as well a while back. However, I think it came down to which version of YnAEMP you are using. If you are using v23 it seems to do that, but I think v22 is fine with it.
Though I haven't actually played the game in weeks so I can't remember if what I said is actually true
