Considering how much Syria has been in the news lately, well at least here in Australia due to shocking rise of young Australian Muslim men joining ISIS and doing unspeakable crimes over there. But of course lately Israel has been in the news, even though the death toll is 20,000 times worse than in the Gaza Strip, but the media's attention is towards that region, for some reason.

With sunglasses tucked into his shirt, an Australian terrorist smiles as he holds up two decapitated heads for the camera in Syria.

Sydney born boxer Mohamed Elomar casually poses with the severed heads in photos posted on Twitter by his friend, convicted terrorist Khaled Sharrouf.

Another image, uploaded on Friday, shows the heads of alleged Syrian solders being impaled on metal railings.
The pictures are quite shocking and had to be edited just to be shown, but this scene has been done thousands of times over in Syria and Iraq, I'd just wish there was more attention being paid to this horror story.

Attention is being paid -IIRC there is a story on Syria on the BBC about once a week. It may not be as intense as the conflict in Gaza but the current Gazan conflict hasn't been going on for three years now.

Well, I still remember how I didn't remember Pillar of Defence because of Syria.

I originally supported the Syrian rebels, though because of groups like ISIS and the fact Assad has done pretty well to addresss the grievances of more moderate rebels, I have come to support Assad.

"This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down, and cut off your head; and I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, Then David ran and stood over the Philistine, and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it.... And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent. And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand." 1 Samuel 17:46

I'd wish I could send JR back to those to see how it was like to live back then than rather from his cosy home in the modern times where he doesn't know what it was like to live a life under constant threat of invasion, where just surviving was a struggle and were life could be taken at any moment, buthe lives in a world were he can indulge in pleasure he wants and where even the poorest American now has far more wealth than the except extremely wealthy of those times.

Holy mackerel!

Who's invading Perth?

http://www.ibtimes.com/syrian-civil-war-has-bloodiest-week-ever-700-people-killed-48-hours-1639834
More than 1,700 people were killed in Syria this week, in what has been described as the bloodiest seven days since the civil war began more than three years ago. The mostly-Sunni militant group Islamic State (IS), formerly known as Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, is accused of killing at least 250 government soldiers and civilians in a gas field near Homs City in just one battle. Damascus saw its fiercest battles in months, and 700 people were killed in just 48 hours across the county. This all took place in the nine days since President Bashar al-Assad was sworn in as for a third term on July 16.

While IS was responsible for a lot of the bloodshed, experts at Syria Deeply say there has been increased fighting between smaller rebel groups who also oppose Assad’s regime. IS is seeking to eliminate its rivals, or force them to pledge allegiance, and other rebel groups want IS out altogether.

According to Britain-based organization Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the fighting has now claimed 170,000 lives, with hundreds of thousands more people displaced.

"Civilians have increasingly limited prospects between leaving the country or being caught in the crossfire," Middle East scholar Andrew Bowen told Syria Deeply.

Since June, when IS found a strong foothold in Iraq, international attention has been focused there -- and then on Gaza, Israel, Ukraine, Russia and a heartbreaking series of plane crashes. And while the world was looking elsewhere, Syria slipped even further into despair.

I think it may have something to do with the long history of religious violence in that part of the world.

And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
(Deuteronomy 7:2-3)

And they warred against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they slew all the males. ...And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. ...

And Moses said unto them...Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
(Numbers 31:7-18)

And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. ...every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe. As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.
(Joshua 11:12-15)

But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them. (Numbers 33:55-56)

There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses. (Joshua 11:19-20)

is accused of killing at least 250 government soldiers and civilians

My my, how fickle the media is. Just a year ago killing governments soldiers (and any civilians in the way, hell yeah) was the virtuous thing to do in Syria.

One wonders how Australians make the trip to Assyria without rousing suspicion (or intellectual curiosity). Perhaps CH can investigate this for us.

Some nice terrorist arrest warrants await them if they ever return to Australia.
And the Liberal Government has a record of deporting Australian citizens.

one reason might be that ISIL does still do the "good" work of destablizing the Middle East ; the West "unfortunately" has no stomach for "equal" fighting .
