More Hero's special objects

If there is going to be more equipment, there should be counters and limitations such as:

Theft
Body "slots" (only 1 helmet at a time)
Mordenkainen's Disjunction!
 
I think if you take a special weapon away from its rightful owner, that owner should have a chance every turn to go Barbarian. Maybe promos like "needs Nether Blade" and if you don't have the matching equipment, byebye! Plus a chance of an event where the item is "stolen" back byt the rightful owner.
Or alternatively, make it so that the usual owner of the item cannot voluntarily drop their weapon, so you have to get him killed in order to give his weapon to someone else. Although that combined with the Shrine of the Champion may make killing off your heroes an inappropriately beneficial option.

You can steal items. I believe that you need a recon unit that worships Esus, and you need to be in the same stack.

I think that is the easy solution from a gameplay perspective (no idea about the coding involved). I really like the idea of giving some heroes special equipment that is dropped on their death.

There are all sorts of cool abilities they could confer:

-Epic mount that confers +1 move
-Mantle that gives a healing bonus to the unit or the stack (similar to medic)
-Magic ring to add spell defense to the unit or stack
-Terrifying warhorn that causes fear
-Helm that protects against fear
-Boots of alacrity that grant blitz
-Nature staff that allows vitalize
-Etc...

You could even perhaps do some alignment specific effects. For example sword and shield of Junil can only be used by good civs or confers a penalty if wielded by evil.

Ooooh.... what about cursed or even intelligent items??

Imagine.... you've killed Hyborem and taken the Gela.....

What if the Gela exerted it's own will on the user?

Could be something as simple as adding the Crazed promotion to Neutral or Good units

War could always add the Enraged promotion to any unit wielding it... why would it allow itself to be used only in defense?

Other ideas may complicate the programming.... but I'm certainly not the expert there!! :crazyeye:

maybe just more healing salves and little items, still letting the bigger ones be rare. In my current game, I have two of those staffs that give +1 affinity for fire.
 
Are you perhaps playing a civ that gets enchantment palace mana. Sure I get lots of meteors, just not when I could make use of them. Not that I really need them, Brigit owns the game by herself anyway.
